Anyway back on topic has anyone got stung by import tax yet? does the packaging that it comes in actually declare its true value or is it the typical hong kong labelled as a gift style deal?
Yeah I payed £20 in total for my frame, unfortunately the packaging has already been recycled, and i didn't have a chance to properly look at it and see if it was labelled as a gift or not.

Okay, cool. I might just chance it, then.
Yeah, come back for the films! Feels like it's been a while. Any news on moving back permanently.
Nothing so far unfortunately, but if I keep earning as much as I am at the moment and don't keep buying crabon bikes then I'll probably have enough money to head back south early next year. Anyway for now I'm still working hard on the job front.

dont buy those tyres.
they are 23" wide!!!!
Sheeeeeeeit! At least they'll hold good when winter comes!
^Hopefully get a proper ride report together when I actually get a chance to take it out for a decent distance, unfortunately I don't really have much experience of road bikes as a base to compare it to though. Also, i think its going to take quite a while before I properly get the hang of riding gears and make the most of it.

Haven't totaled everything up, but I think between £800 and 900 at this point.
The rear is a schwalbe blizzard hp and the front is a crescent, both 20mm. Just pulled them off an old wheelset I had lying around, probably going to replace them with a pair of these - http://www.ribblecycles.co.uk/sp/road-track-bike/Road-Triathlon-Track-Folding-Tyres-Challenge-Open-Criterium-Folding-Tyre/CHALTYRF190 when my wallet has had a bit of a chance to recover.

^^^ Yeah, just trying to decide between an arione or an antares, leaning towards a white antares because it'll finish the build off just right.
In other news, I cannot ride gears to save my life. Think i need to book a couple of days off work and put some miles down on it until I get this shit figured out. Also what the fuck is coasting all about?

Finished my FM004 build today. Everything went pretty smoothly, except waiting for ages for the last few parts. Setup still needs a few tweaks, but other than that I'm really happy with it. Took it for a quick spin when I was done; it feels really solid to ride, very smooth and definitely feels light for me (I nearly got take down by the wind a couple of times!).
Attempted to weigh it on the bathroom scales and it came up somewhere between 8 and 9 kg, but the accuracy of them is shit so I don't trust that at all.

i think the look of it will also play a part in my choosing. the shimano looks wack and like you say i dont like the sti's also.
perhaps i even go for sram apex? although i might get criticized (by henry) for having an entry level groupset on a carbon bike!I was thinking of apex until i saw the bits i bought come up at a reasonable price. The double tap shifters feel pretty good to me, and the shifting seems logical enough. Hopefully have the bike running tomorrow, so i'll know for sure then. Probably just be fucking confused by gears as whole though

So project road bike is happening now. havent gone down the no name chinese carbon route like sumo and fade but the chinese carbon with a name. brought this frame today.
Thinking about what groupset to go for. tempted by sram rival but not sure
Looks good. That frame is a really similar design to mine, just minus the
kink in the seat stays, and i think it might have slightly more compact geometry. It'll be intersting to compare all three side by side when we're all finished building them. -
Yeah, especially seeing as it has iPhone and android support as well as just garmin. You might find that if you go out and ride some of the climbs have already been logged, to be honest the search feature isn't that great, needs some way of viewing all categorised climbs on a map. Anyway hopefully someone can use it to track the recce route then it can all be figured out from there.
