Main colour is finally on the frame... photo coming soon but still not sure about the quickest way to do the head badge.
Anyone out there got experience in badge painting? Is there an easy way?

Do the art work, take it to a process engravers, cut out the outside shape, paint the colours.

Not a bad idea at all... drawing up the badge lines now so will look in to that when Im done

Well - If they've got them that would take a huge amount of work off my hands. Got to be honest though, the only version I've ever seen in perfect condition is the one above in the picture.

Hmmm... at those prices I might just carry on doing it myself! Completely restored by hand for approx £60 & 5 weekends enjoyable work :) It won't be oven cured, but Ill be proud of it until the rain makes the colours run

Im probably just going to be painting straight on to frame - don't think id risk it on someone elses bike!

FInally got to the stage where I could do the undercoat - Not long to doing the decals now... fingers crossed I don't mess up the gloss black first...

Probably premature of me to get saddle yet till build is finished - will check back with you in a week or so once it's finished. If you've still got it then maybe meet to see how bike+saddle looks?

p.s Kind of makes me wish I'd got Deep Gold colour Spray for all the lugs.. lovely colour on the badge..

Piggy - It's not going to be airbrushed.... I'm going to... Handpaint on after penciling on a detailed outline! Once i've done that Im going to get copies of the stencils done as adhesive seethrough transfers or something else incredibly thin.

We'll see.. could take me an extra week if I take the wrong route on this one but I want to make it spot on

Ok... so I've called Kings cycles and done some research. The guy who answered (I'm guessing the current owner) tells me it was indeed Pat who owned the shop and Ron Thomas(?) rang a bell....

The only problem is, he bought the shop from Pat 18years ago back in 1993 and has no contact details for either guys. Most likely he is past his cycling days by now, moved on, retired from the trade etc. The other sad news is - the shop/workshop was completely cleared out, and what wasnt packed up and taken was binned....

A bit sad really but interesting to piece together a bit more of the vague information anyway.

Jamiejay - if you've got or could post some pics of the frame details and badge(?) I'm going to attempt to recreate some high quality stickers true to original colours etc.

Any help is appreciated!

Doing a restoration on a Pat Rohan frame.

With the exception of my seat-post and stem EVERYTHING else is original and I'm hoping to finish it off with some refreshed decals.

Currently the only part of the frame not sanded is the downtube with the original lettering.

Does anyone have a Pat Rohan bike, pictures of one, or links to some examples? Anyone have original labels?? Will pay a fair price for the real deal - my build is on hold until I find the elusive S.O.B's!

Silver Pedals? Pack of bacon? Still got em?

I'll take the Beater/"cheap" pedals if they're still going. Tomorrow if its ok?
