The route goes down the east side of the Severn and uses the old bridge crossing - not as scenic as the other options you have, but not too challenging if you wanted to get some miles in. Passes through lots of 'quaint villages' etc.
I've always found the planning one of the best bits - completely free and plenty exciting. -

I think jumping ship depends on the responsibilities you have. There's huge pressure to keep plugging away, for me this ended up in a minor breakdown that hit me out of the blue, after thinking I was as tough as old boots.
I've walked out of more than one senior role in the belief that life's for living. -
They are a bit awkward with full finger gloves, more annoying is changing mode on the move - you need to press the smallish button hard and with full finger gloves - ( on cold days ) - it's a pain. Everything has it's drawbacks though - even beer.
Exposure lights are very good and seem to be getting more affordable - for under 50 quid you'll be fine unless you live out in the sticks where goblins, owls and witches roam the country lanes. -

Hello all - I have some 10 speed triple bits from a cancelled build going spare.
STI's in really good nick, long arm rear mech., triple chainset, 170mm, 52-40-30 and band on front mech. 34.9 clamp.

That's a really nice job you've done - agree with the saddle and brake advice though.
