@Superprecise: just been on hols with stuff loaded on the back end only, although my bike is heavy to start with (old steel MTB), and it was fine in steering and handling, the problem was I had to remember not to pull on the handlebars going up steep hills as the front wheel was very keen to take to the air...
it was clothes/tools/water only, so probably <10kg

looks like nice cycling country, all those lush river floodplains. there were lots of cows in meadows, and standing around in rivers. and there was a town with lots of rows of whitewashed terraces, or pale stone or something, going up the side of a hill, there was a skatepark at the bottom, looked new in pale concrete. it all looked great, in the sun... filed under "photos I would have taken if I was quicker about it".

speaking of that, how do you fellow glass wearers tackle this? Is there ways to solve it or do you just learn to frame without seing the edges of the viewfinder?
scratches in the top left quarter of my right lens, every sodding pair of glasses...
I have wonky astigmatism too, used to wear contacts for sport/clubbing but just far prefer glasses, so haven't had contacts for about ten years.I've got several rolls of C41 to be developed, accumulating since Darkside moved out of town. not sure whether to post stuff to them, or find a new favourite developer... maybe Photofusion, or one of the big mail order places. nervous about sticking my films in the post...
also, I should really get something actually developed from the lil Trip35 I've been using lately, I don't know if it even works...

I may be buying this tomorrow: https://www.lfgss.com/thread69122.html
Been keeping an eye on some very nice CM frames, but this just appeared and talked to me :)
Can't find much info, am I right in thinking that they're a bit lower end than CM. Any opinions?
I want something I can ride well, think I'm gonna have to switch those wheels out... -

got a few weekends bunched together in the form of 6 days in sunny Cornwall. stunning part of the country, and rather hillier than I'm used to. only rode properly on a couple of days between towns, with walks on days between.
first, short ride just getting from the train station to B&B on the first night, had to walk up the final part of the only hill. between Mevagissey and Falmouth a couple of days later, walked in a couple of places. the next day, Falmouth to St Ives, no walking (admittedly fewer steep climbs).
I'm certainly better at hills than this time last week, and quite pleased with myself. also, kinda pleased that my partner (who has "only just" taken up cycling) has not yet overtaken me in speed/ability as I was expecting - it is still a nice relaxed pace. it's been a really ace holiday, the place was magical, the weather benign (mild sunburn on face/arms not withstanding), and the food excellent. most of the other cyclists we encoutered were german tourists - families and older couples, all laden down with stuff. Cornwall is a great scale for cycling/walking, it was fun on the last full day to walk from Penzance along the coast to Marazion and then from there crossing from south to north coast by foot back to St Ives.this is sort of the route, colours for different days. we took a small ferry between St Mawes and Falmouth but I couldn't work out how to break the line...
