Doesn't the sweet spot distance apart vary with anatomy?

I have something very similar in downstairs front room (similar timeline after redecorating). Other side of the wall is enclosed porch, wall feels dry on the other side but encrusted in paint so hard to tell. Suspect just a bit of damp maybe pulling in from the outside or ground causing efflorescence but nothing critical. I just scraped off what paint was bubbling and left it. It looks a bit ugly but it's enough to let the wall breathe and stay dry. If you put furniture in front of it leave a gap for it to ventilate. I suspect my approach to DIY and decoration is well below forum average though.

I can't go to the cinema in quick succession anymore. Used to love it, festival passes etc. But now I feel like every film needs its space.

All of Us Strangers at the cinema last night. A little close to the bone for Gen X queers. Love a good chamber piece film (not sure if right description but few main actors). Lingering sadness. Recommend if you enjoy leaning into your melancholy.

Your neighbour can cut any branches that are overhanging into their garden as long as they only remove the bits on their side of the boundary.

My interpretation is that this means you can't complain if your neighbour cuts your tree/hedge so long as they don't go into your side. I don't think it says anything about who should be cutting it.

Nah, I think I'm a bit of an outlier but I think the assumption that everyone's going as fast as they can, wants to 'share the load' etc etc is false. I don't even like cycling close to people I know and trust.

Keep the rad under the window even if you add one somewhere else. Better for mixing temps otherwise you end up with stratified warm up top, cold at the bottom (where you're sitting). Depending on how drafty/cold the room is of course. If the big window is air tight triple glazed, don't worry about it.

A fan set in the living room floor subtly pushing the warm downstairs? Or some kind of diy heat exchanger with a an array of copper pipes in the living room ceiling bringing heat down to downstairs. Might look cool in a Heath Robinson kind of way.

Disagree. Least likely to be problems doing EWI on a solid wall. With cavity there's a lot that can go wrong in terms of moisture and I think much of what has already been done has caused a lot of damage to the existing buildings. Although it's also cowboy retrofit territory (see also spray foam in the loft, snake oil rising damp solutions).

Have you tried a coffee can? Can't remember the thickness but I used a strip cut from an Azera can on a seatpost and it's still holding several years later. Might be thereabouts.

Planning don't care what the inside of your garage looks like, if you don't change the use type. Unless it's Listed.
