I am currently using Schwalbe Stelvio tyres.
Horatio has suggested I change my back tyre (at least) for the Brighton ride. If so which tyre should I get?
I thought I had bought puncture proof tyres when I got them, though as there are 3 types of Stelvio mentioned in this thread - http://www.londonfgss.com/thread5985.html -though they all look identical and mine just have "Schwalbe Stelvio" on their walls I am none the wiser as to what I have or if they are up to the job.

I have a freitag joe bag, great for walking around with, shit for cycling. the padding is not substantial enough and it slides all over the place, though I see the rex does have an extra strap. my bag kept sliding in front of me when going downhill fast - which I found a little scary.
I got a pac bag from caspar and its in another league. was tempted by the grobag but needed a bag without the wait. I love the pac bag.
for a proper bag it loks like either a pac bg or grobag are about the best options.

Goatee-ish wearing dude on a black frame (de-badged IRO?) with quality orange deep v's heading east on Chiswick High Road about 8:15 this morning. Nice bike!
Thats me, am new to the world of fixed gear bikes and absolutely loving it, took advice from friends and jumped in at the deep end.
I probably dont need to mention the childlike thrill of cranks racing round, feet feeling like they are circling faster than road runners, finding a line through traffic, reducing my commuting time by 30%, feedback through the pedals etc.
This is fast becoming one of my obsessions (along with music, dancing, competitive fencing and yoga). In 2 weeks time the fencing season ends and then plan to join the trixie dix and learn to trackstand and skid.

That was my first Critical Mass. Had a blast, saw some friends and made some new ones.
Will be at future events if possible. It was great fun to see people standing outside pubs looking confused, pedestrians trying to cross the road while a few hundred bikes went past looked terrified. The Esso staff did not have a clue what was happening - they even locked the doors and held their customers inside while everyone circled the forecourt.
I departed after dancing around at Buckingham Palace - not a sentence I would ever expect to have written!

BLB was already top of the hit list, they were v friendly on the phone this morning, will pay them a visit very soon. am bored with my current sporting activity (fencing) and need something to keep me fit. now that I am liberated from carrying a bunch of swords and protective kit the bike looks like a great option.

I am new to the world of fixed gear.
I have a budget of £500-600 to spend on a bike.
Where would people reccomend to go in London to buy a bike and what would you suggest I buy?
Ideally I wish to get a bike within the next couple of weeks.
I am sure I will receive brutal punishment for such a novice posting if this is like any other internet forum, but hope to find some pearls of wisdom amongst the wisecracks.
Cheers
James
I should probably add its going to be used for commuting to work each day, am fed up with the tube and public transport
stil not sure what tyres to use - any suggestions?
or should I just stick with my 5 week old stelvios (which have the raceguard thingamy)?
also I vote my name as pretty shit, may have to contact an image consultant and rebrand myself.
