Yesterday I had to do a rapid skid to a halt and trackstand to avoid running over a couple of police officers on a zebra crossing. One of them looked me in the eye and I expected to get a telling off, instead he said thanks and well done.
Today I skidded to a halt and trackstand at some traffic lights and a pedestrian shouted "Nice skills".
Considering my rather ropey skidding and trackstanding it was lovely to get such compliments.

I made a complaint to foxtons re one of their drivers (even posted it on the forum at the time).
Got a letter a few weeks later apologising, but then the fuckers added me to their mailing list!
My tip for shit drivers who are in company livery is to ride past them, shouting their registration number and that you will report them to their manager.

its not that scary. my first time fixed was when I bought a bike and then cycled home from Shoreditch to Kew Gardens. I had not ridden a bike for 10 years. Biggest problem was getting toes in straps, but if you come from MTB and go for clipless it should be much easier.
Just take your time and you will enjoy the thrill of something new.

so i could be as well off just buying a single user licence and updating both the desktop and the laptop?
I am more than willing to pay the money and do it legitimately, so may well go down that route - may even take the laptop into the mac store and get them to do the upgrade on there and then take the discs home to upgrade the desktop
I love the forum - the fact that I can get simple straightforward advice on so many issues.
cheers y'all

this is interesting re the lack of license - does anyone know if I could bittorent the software?
can i blag the discs off someone before thursday (slightly long story - the cd drive on my laptop is knackered so will need to rip to a firewire drive and install that way) plus by thursday I need to be packed and ready for my trip away.

I have a battered old macbook, it is running OS 10.3 but I need to upgrade to 10.4 or higher before Thursday.
I am going away to Italy on Friday, my garmin cycling computer talks to my desktop computer at home but will not work with my old laptop given its ancient OS.
Has anyone got a spare multi user licence for 10.4 or higher that I can use? would offer cash - but need to get it sorted asap.
Many thanks
ps am an idiot and should have posted this on the wanted pages, feel free to flame away!

I got lambasted for 120psi in my tyres, 140 is quite a pressure!
When I first started cycling I did not imagine I'd need a pump, then got a minimorph but that was a lot of hard work.
Proper track pump is so much better.
I now always have the carhartt pump in my bag, it can achieve 110 psi (but i will probably have burst a few blood vessels in the process). Generally i just use that pump to get me as far as home, a friends place (with track pump) or owenreed's bike shop.

has anyone else added white vans with the "british jobs for british workers" stickers in the windows to their list of vehicles that are driven by dangerous morons?
