Yep, those badboys. I would have thought there would be some variation between thickness of crank spiders though, if yours a particularly thin then they could bottom out.

I had a 3/32 campy ring 144bcd on some Andel cranks for a bit. Used standard single ring bolts, think they were I.D brand or something? Common stuff. Worked fine.

So 7Nm allows it to slip and rotate despite carbon paste? Is the torque wrench calibrated?

Having it undertightened it seems is causing more damage to the post due to the post twisting and rubbing against the expanders curved surface.

I don't want to recommend trying to tighten higher than the recommended torque setting in case it cracks your post. (but thats probably what I would do, and if it failed, go back to an aluminium post)

Oh i see, the curved edge on the expander pushes against the seatpost.

Damn, that seems like a silly way to hold a seatpost.

How does that seatpost mechanism work with the wedge expander? (excuse my terminology)

can someone recommend me a cheapish torque wrench? bear in mind I know nothing about them and just want it to correctly tighten thomson stem, seat post etc bolts after breaking one

Riding through Kensington the other day, pass a chap riding very slowly on a mountain bike. Few seconds later I'm wondering to myself whether someone just told me to fuck off, but I wasn't sure and proceeded.

Minute later I stop at a traffic light, hear some increasingly loud commotion from behind, the guy is shouting and swearing at me to get the fuck out of his way (I'm stationary). He comes barrelling past on my inside no less through the red light towards criss crossing traffic. Some beeps and heavy braking occurs but he carries on. I pass him after the light goes green and he tells me to go fuck myself again. This brought out the dark side in my so i proceeded to tell him he is a &^*^&$W£$% and all the things that accompany, and then i noticed his pupils were completely dilated and he was salivating out of the sides of his mouth. I've never seen a dude so enraged and insane looking.

At this point I proceed to become very scared of him and shoot off. Only to encounter another red light. Im nervous he is going to catch up to me so I keep an eye over my shoulder. Lo and behold I see him barrelling towards me. At this point I thought fuck this and performed my first RLJ for quite some time, and continued to ride at max pace for the next few minutes until I was sure I'd lost him.

So forumengers beware, there are some crazy people out there on crazy drugs.
