Velocio - XenForo was at the most basic stage when I last checked it out which wouldn't be much use at the moment for the site I currently run because it'd strip out so much stuff that was already part of vbulletin 3 - but Jelsoft's behaviour over VB4 has guaranteed that there's not a snowball's chance in hell I'll give them any more money. I wanted to switch to XenForo but I don't want to end up with a monster coding project on my hands to hack in all the stuff we're already using on vb3. How is XenForo on the features front now? There's not a lot of info on their site about it (guess because it's still in beta).

Just lent the film Quicksilver* to fausto who after the first 10 minutes texted me that kevin bacon needs cycle training.
Why did that guy in that car kill Morpheus? Neither Wikipedia nor IMDB explain this and I don't want to have to watch the film to find out because it is rated as universally terrible.

Just back from sunny Balham high street - the Sainsbury's there recently did a refit during which they took away the several excellent sheffield stands and replaced them with a single shed containing maybe 6 of those idiotic butterfy stands. This evidently didn't do enough to discourage cyclists from locking up at Sainsbury's, so now they've taken the shed / butterfly stands away and replaced them with two tree-shaped structures with grooves in the stems. I gather you are supposed to lift your bike into the stands vertically and use a cable lock to secure your quick-release front wheel to the topmost metal bar of the stand. There doesn't appear to be any method using standard physics by which you can both secure the wheel to the stand and secure the wheel to the bicycle.
Two enterprising souls had a go anyway, everybody else just locked their bikes to the wooden railings that fence off the flowerbeds. Why do Sainsbury's hate cyclists?

It takes effort to fill in those numbers. We don't all have servants to mark the cards for us. Yet.
The fourth thing I will do is commission Dyson or somebody to produce some Irony Detectors and then offer them out to the general populace as a philanthropic gesture.

- The best goddamn savings-based banking account currently available in this shitty economy

Go to Angels on Shaftesbury Avenue and pick yourself up one of these babies: http://www.fancydress.com/costumes/D%27artagnan-Black-Wig-&-Beard/0~1030~346
They also do tophats!
*NB it would probably be a good idea to ignore my advice

Quite an useful thing to have even if you don't own a car.
Definitely this. After a year of not running anybody over / drunk driving etc you get to use Streetcar / Streetvan vehicles which you can then use to transport your bike to places you may not have bothered with previously. Bit of a win all round.
I'm due to get my test arranged at some point this month - think I've had something ridiculous like 70 hours tuition so far. I feel like a bit of an imbecile, frankly, but that's nothing to how I'll feel if I fail the test on top of that.

I reckon it was probably made the year after I was born so it's more a reflection of me feeling my age than any intrinsic property of the camera itself!
I didn't know anything about cameras when I first got it and haven't really learned anything much about them in the years since then but from what I can find about them on the net now they seem to have a good reputation. Wish it had a manual shutter mode like the non-super KR-10 though, I've no idea where to look to find replacement batteries.

what happens if you order bran flakes?
Then you'd probably get one of these: [ame]http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/White_pudding[/ame]
Edit: wait I thought i was on the last page of this thread when I made this reply but seems not

Have just picked up my old SLR from my mum's house - Ricoh KR-10 Super. Vintage! Really looking forward to using it but I've pretty forgotten how it all works so will need to relearn everything. As I recall it has some kind of imperfection in the lens, maybe a chip or something? All the pictures end up marked with a little notch in the top right corner. But you know, I love it anyway.

Anybody got any Sarf Lunnon* recommendations? My favourite shoes need repaired but I've never used a cobbler before and I hate the idea of taking my precious boots in somewhere and then coming back a few days later to be told that there was nothing they could do and now they've gone to shoe heaven. I expect these fears are needless ones but they are fears, nevertheless.

The Castle's been closed down for ages, hasn't it? Last time I went past it there was a poster tacked to a broken window saying it's now home to a local Mosque, I think. Always used to check for signs of life whenever I went past because I couldn't imagine anybody taking up a tenancy in the place ever again.
Two minutes up the road from that awful pub is a pet shop (or at least it used to be a pet shop, think it's a furniture shop now) that's had a For Sale sign in the top window for yonks - one side has the normal 'for sale' stuff on it but the other side has a picture of Cthulhu on it. This is unrelated to the pub itself but it's one of those things that's just so bizarre I sort of feel like I need to tell somebody about it.

But has anyone ever really been so far as to post when think sense if them have thread comment for?
