Finally managed to finish Riddley Walker after the 3rd attempt. Farthest I'd managed to get in before is page 22,
The best I've read in the same vein is Fearsum Endjin by the late lamented Iain Banks, stunning book. Kind of a Gormengahsty thing, but with lammergeiers. Awesome read.
Currently into Freakonomics in the downstairs bog and a Dick Francis in the upstairs crapper.

Actually... Not really so for a commercial operation. For you or I, fair enough, but for a company.
Consider, they will need to reduce the pallet to it's component parts (to access all surfaces), as a minimum give it all a light sand (to remove splinters) and then apply some form of finishing coating. Then reassemble and add the castors (which aren't cheap for decent ones). Got to be at least two or three hours work plus materials - at £50 per hour (including overhead) I'd guess they are putting around £125 into each one. Then packaging, advertising, processing sales etc - not really a huge margin.
Still, if you actually paid £250 for one and didn't make it yourself, you either have far too much money or no arms.

What's the view on the Seven Friday things Watchfinder are retailing? Don't get it myself. http://news.watchfinder.co.uk/_act/link.php?mId=C927282417683189975035526394212&tId=131795734&subjId=155519

That's about what I was thinking. I assume it has charger, etc
Yes, all present and correct.
And as for you haters!
I love my high end timepieces, but a pebble is an iPod in the steam age. Unobtrusive but really functional - especially on the bike. Phone rings? Look at your wrist to see if you need to haul up and dig out your phone or ignore the call. Text? Read it on your wrist. Email? Same. Using your phone to play music through a dock? Control it with your watch from.the other side of the room. Selfie? There's the remote for your camera (and you can even see what the lens sees, ON YOUR FUCKING WATCH!)
Plus I use a Panerai face so I don't get homesick for the PAM :-)
Wouldn't wear it to a dinner party or a job interview, but as a swiss army knife they are awesome.

Oh bollocks...now I need to go and have another look!!
I did seriously love my Aquaterra
Until the poorly serviced movement died.....
Only downsides were that I found it quite hard to read sometimes due to reflections, and the winder tended to bite into the back of my hand (I wear watches pretty loose).

I may be interested in the Black Pebble (not entirely sure why, just like the idea). Any info on condition, price, etc. Cheers
Hi Aggi,
It's the Jet Black version. Condition is spot-on, only worn a few times, no scratches or band stretch.
Price? Hmm, equivalent £90 new from Pebble (plus import tax if you're unlucky), £65?

The biggest issue with Payday loans is that you can roll them over, and you can get them from multiple lenders.
Most people that I know who have got into the shite have done so because of this.
Make a central database that all of the companies must consult, make it so that you can't take out a second loan until the first is paid off, and make it illegal to issue a loan to pay off a loan. After that market forces should start to pull down the interest rates as the companies compete for a smaller pot of misery (and stop relying on default charges etc for their profit margins).
The truth is that these guys WANT you to default, 'cos you are then in their pocket until you can claw out of the cycle. Not an ethical business model IMO.
Also, I am led to understand that simply taking one of these out dents your credit record even if paid off on time and in full.
