Also, the packaging is a handy water tight case

It'll definitely come in handy.
Inspired by your post above I bought the same bit of kit, but I must warn you (proved on a recent trip) that the case may be considered showerproof, but DEFINITELY not watertight. Sat on a beach drying out currency in the sun for quite a while :-D

Find a charity that uses cute and cuddly flagship animal to 'adopt' but actually spends the money on a range of environmental issues across a broader range of species. You get the aaah factor and your money goes where it's needed.
Honestly, (paraphrasing a comedian, #notserious), how many snow leopards do we need? Maybe ten for zoos and another max ten for films, that's about twenty tops......
There are many REALLY important threatened species (as in to the survival of your grandchildren important) that just don't have the camera appeal. Adopt a bumblebee or a frog anyone? -

Polished off One Summer; America 1927 by Bill Bryson over the weekend.
Very enjoyable read and came away knowing lots that I didn't when I started, always a nice feeling. Sarah Churchwell savaged it in the Grauniad when it came out last year, but I'm glad I ignored her and read it anyway when it came out in paperback.

It's OK for Orthodox Jews to be vigilanties but not Muslims it seems...
btw. No one should have any religious affiliation in policing any city. We might be CoE but I prefer my law to be agnostic.
I don't understand your issue? It's a highly effective neighbourhood watch assisting (and praised by) the police achieving response times they can't get close to matching on a volunteer basis. Even running a trained paramedic service too by the sounds of it. Membership not restricted by creed either. Not really vigilantism and definitely no similarity at all to the (very over-daily-mail-hyped) Muslim Patrol fuckwits.

No, mine are all dead straight - but I have rather fallen out of love with them. Tend to gravitate to various Sabatiers for big stuff and (as echoed above) LIVE by my little Victorinox knives with the cheap moulded plastic handles but blades you can breathe on with a steel and shave with.
Rather love the little sandwich knives from the same range too - lightly serrated so you can spread butter and eviscerate a crusty French loaf or a croissant with the same knife.
I'd be taking the Global back TBH, sounds like a defect.

Whilst laudable to try and put something back into Detroit I'm not sure I'll be adding to the stable from these guys.
I know that the name comes from "can't tell shit from Shinola" but it's the first noun that sticks in the mind regardless how well built these quartz watches may be. And the lightning bolt.
Still, it's a subjective world.....
