You are going to notice a lot more wear on both tyres then say the Soma mentioned above. To be honest if you skid stop, you'd better not fit them as they will wear at an alarming rate because both these tyres are folding road race tyres. The Criterium is Challenge's top open road tubular (clincher), the equivalent of the Veloflex you mention and is highly respected. Of the two tyres the 320tpi Criterium will be more supple then the 300tpi Forte due to the higher thread count.
As an aside I believe you'll find Team RadioShack are using their tubulars this year.
Thanks for that. They'll just be going on my fancy fair weather road bike. It'll be my old gatorskins for the mucky winter bike i'm planning.

Looking for some decent looking/lasting gumwall tires. Can't quite afford Veloflex at the moment, so looking for something to tide me over. Anyone know anything about these Schwalbe Lugano's? Pretty cheap at £25 for the pair.

Look a bit better than the Michelin Dynamics and the Panaracer Paselas but seem a bit on the heavy side? Any other obvious candidates i'm missing out on?

pffh, he'd be the first to go in the great Transformers, Lego-Men (with helmets and in Dinky jeeps) and He-Man Vs. Boba Fete and the fully crewed Millenium Falcon in the great post-school toy battle.
I s'pose he'll last longer than the model army under the lighter ...er, i mean flame thrower wielded by optimus prime. what kinda kid is going to spend £7 on a pawn.srsly tho, excellent craftmanship, like the "grand tour mitts" and the eyes. Totally inspired. Clearly this guy's read one too many rapha pocket-lables.
pffh yourself. These little dudes are great and a damn sight more collectible than your shit he-man figures.

I understand your position and I sympathize to some extent but unfortunately your 'going fixed' logic is flawed. A bike like that in it's original set up will almost always be worth more than a modified one even if you believe it's been 'upgraded'. Collectors will want original paint and components. If, like you say, an original, built up bike like this goes for around £450 here, removing a full Record group set (not you I realise) Is like knocking off £200 straight away, taking the F+F down to say £250. Regardless of what you replace it with it's going to struggle to get past it's original price of £450. Unfair, I realise, given the time and effort you've put in but that's just the way it works with collectors. That said, you should have little trouble getting close to your asking on Ebay.

Agree, It seems as though lots of people are using this thread in the absence of any real public service announcements.
