Can any of the watch boffins on here tell me what my watch means by 'adjusted to five positions' please? It's written in the movement after it says 'twenty-eight jewels'.
That was only when it left the factory / workshop so pretty meaningless today.
However your recent post at +1 sec is very good and watches should always gain - never lose.

Use mine mainly for home - station on commute 4miles. But also for football, Done, KGX - Crystal Palace, Watford, Luton, Fulham, West Ham. Canal routes Manchester - Sowerby Bridge, Leeds - Skipton. Welwyn GC - KGX through Lee Valley. Last month 20mls around Paris and Avignon. Only gets rough over cobbles and those grip bars on canal lock rises where the 16" wheels show their limitations. If I only had room for one bike, this would be it (maybe with the Alfine conversion).

I use one of these, not sure if it's the same version, but was off ebay and looks identical. It's stupidly bright, I go mountain biking with it, the battery lasts 6-8 hours between charges.

More troublesome is the connection between battery and head, i've had the connection come apart leaving you completely in the dark. Rather than spend more on a Hope I bought another of the above. On the road have one flashing and one on half, off road, one on full one on half. The other weak spot is the fixings, they do slide slowly on the bars, especially off road - so not really suitable for big downhills but X country has been fine.Oh and there is 55 pages here http://www.lfgss.com/thread10329.html

In other news, completed a 1400k randonneur, bike worked exactly as it should, very pleased with it, only issue is the rear derailleur was busted and quickly fit a cheap one (hooray for friction) and truing the rear wheel.
Great write up, thanks for taking the time to. Quite inspiring really.

Paris = Cobbles and hills. And a lot more crazy scooters to worry about. But I found it fine.
Avignon has a few busy roads but is mostly quiet.
Now for a messy place to ride, try Athens, Greece.
Went very well, Eurostar fine on the way out. Needed to bag just on to the train. Coming back had to bag before check in and carry around in the 95degree heat of thursday.
Grey Paris - Tuesday. Some of the road junctions - you really need your wits about you. Traffic from 5 directions and poor signalling
Avignon is wonderful
Ardeche - Roads too busy and narrow - not bike friendly

Byzantium - A Neil Jordan Vampire film set in Hastings.
Not frightful but haunting and mixes past and present really well.
Now my favourite Vampire film pushing off The Hunger
