Having now done Dunwich and feeling quite pleased with myself on hitting (nearly) 200k without feeling too mashed, my thoughts are turning to 200k audaxes and the speeds required.
So I'm down for the Chris Negus Memorial 200k in September which says it's 216km and with a speed of 15-30kph. Using my magic maths that's a maximum time limit of 216/15 = 14.4h for the whole thing.
If it starts at 8am (which it does) does that mean that your man's going to hold the final control open until 10:24pm?
I know this sounds blindingly obvious but it's not actually mentioned anywhere on the AUK site as far as I can tell.
You can probably walk it in that time

for anyone interested, I'll be riding the prologue, and starting at 8.
Me too! :D
I'll hopefully share some load with some quite strong guys I've met this year who are starting at the same time
Crikey :S
last minute crises of confidence
GP 4seasons in 28mm or 4000s in 25?
Smallest tyres possible.
Hopefully see some of you in a few days. I'm helping to man the checkpoint in Brampton (Cumbria), 'cos I live there.
Are you Manchester's Yoav? Either way, see you at Brampton :D

I generally only permit riding in km's for rides of longer than 100 miles, given that 60 miles is just 'a bike ride' rather than 'a long bike ride'.
My friends said they prefer riding in kilometres cos they go by quicker, but then there are more of them! My pastime on audaxes is seeing if I can 'get a feel' for how far 3.7km/6.1km/whatever to the next turning is (as in be able to 'know' when I'm going to get to it), haven't got the hang of it yet. Anything over about 1.5 just turns into "quite a long way" :

If you're in a public place there's certainly nothing a private security guard can do to stop you doing anything; furthermore legally speaking the only way a police officer could ask you not to take a photo is under anti-terrorism powers, nothing to do with it being a prison. Basically if you're stood on public ground you can take a photograph in any direction you care to, regardless of what happens to be in the image.

I know this was ages ago, but to clear it up - Cav was 3rd wheel when the gap goes - behind him. He's then 2nd wheel after Steegmans pulls off. This is pretty obvious simply from the number of riders in line. I think the guy who taps Steegmans on the back must be from Caja Rural.
Sorry for the topic dredge!
