Saw a remarkable number of cyclists last night on the way home who seemingly had lost the desire to live. Favourite was the one who overtook me with no room so he could shoot a tiny gap and undertake a slow-moving bus while approaching a blind junction. WAC. Ruined a perfectly beautiful evening.

Hurricane Katia could hit Britain bringing gale force winds,

 Forecasters are monitoring the tropical storm that is is

expected to hit the UK on Sunday night or early next week.

^Suddenly don't feel so bad about being dropped. Good to see you OSR, Butters and 6pt and sorry for not hanging in longer. After losing the group it turned into a TT for which I was not mentally prepared. Will have to work harder next time.

When I checked this morning the forecast was that the rain won't last long and it will be clear later. Interested in another go at this after several weeks of traveling and not riding.

Only one way to find out. New list. Monday 12th of September 2011. Train up, leisurely local ride, food, visit the nice people at Mercian and back (or some semblance of that order). Seems to be roughly 1:40 on the train, so an early-ish departure would leave serveral hours to faff around. I think that is what was originally envisioned.

No queue when I left 20 minutes ago. Lots of gloves/mitts/hats along with club jerseys and country jerseys and trousers. Fair number of merino tops. Baselayers mostly gone.

If in Chicago, this is out of town but a must visit. One of the lovliest spots on the planet.

My sense was the wait can be highly variable, depending on when you arrive. I suspect first thing in the morning and lunchtime are the bulge times with longest waits.

^ Looking for bibs takes 5 minutes. Waiting in line to get in takes an hour (at least that's about what it took me on the friday afternoon at lunchtime last time).

Interesting the state is considering making it a violation for driving within 3 feet of a cyclist.

In Los Angeles it's now a crime for a driver to threaten cyclists. Cyclists can even sue drivers who yell at them.
