"Slowing down" is holding a flat palm with fingers pointing downwards towards following traffic. I always use my right hand.
I do this and find it works. If I am in secondary a trailing car at 4-5 o'clock IME will often figure out what is going on and also slow. If I am in primary and do this I often look what is behind me and have found it's a good signal for drivers to stay back and off my rear wheel. I tried the arm out, palm down, pat-the-dog Highway Code thing and my sense is it angers drivers, as if some crazy cyclist is telling them what to do.

Time for a list. I actually came here to post an Irish whiskey I bought recently, Teeling, a small batch blend from Dublin. Quite nice, very clean, and not overwhelming even at 46%. I usually drink Scotch malts but wanted to try something new. I live in SE10 and they are stocking it at Theatre of Wine on Trafalgar Road in east Greenwich. Would buy again.

I've been watching his Experiments in Speed with interest, and he has taken a crack at 100mph (Sheldon suggests that on his 104x13 gear then 100mph=160 RPMs).
Pretty cool. I didn't see a thread for this project, so thought I would put it here.

Gaz, was waiting for this thread to kick off the project. I vote with the above to keep the track bike paint as is and paint the road bike to match (though I see you have already considered and dismissed this)....
