Am I going out too soft? - http://app.strava.com/activities/71495831
It doesn't make sense to me that I'd be able to finish a 23:45 going uphill at 26mph+. It could be the method that other regular riders of that course have but I've previously had a 2min man catch me on the 6th mile only for me to pull away from him for 15seconds. I've also had people say that they've been catching me to the turn then can't make any ground on me afterwards. -

As for safety (third time lucky), have you considered one brake, and cycle training?
Have you considered cycle training?
You can't go telling other people to do things when you haven't done it yourself. Perhaps you don't think you need cycle training but then most people think they can ride a bike properly, even the people swerving all over the shop think they're doing fine.

Maybe core is the wrong word, I'm crap at valve terminology. I snapped the thin threaded part with the barrel on, but I'm not sure if you can unscrew the whole thing as I've often unintentionally done on inner tubes. I assume that's a removable core, which could be replaced by the core from another tube?
It'll be fine unless you need to use a valve extension. I snapped mine the other day so that there was nothing to grab on to, Turns out the pin is quite secure so you can unscrew the core just using that.

When I did it it was 10hrs total but 6.5hrs riding time. That was on fixed too
Train back was easy enough, just went to the station and waited with all the other people who'd completed it waiting in turn. By the time I was getting on the train the station person persuaded the train driver to let a load of us on. And trains were fairly regular

Yeah, I get 10 bags from my local post office then cash in a few months worth of coppers for a tenner. Lucky for my my local post office is 5 doors down the road. I don't think I could deal with carrying a tenners worth of coppers further than that.
They're meant to weigh or count them but the woman in my local appears to trust me.

Are Planet X frames designed around guesswork of what should be aero and current trends?
This looks tempting - http://www.planet-x-bikes.co.uk/i/q/FRPXEX/planet_x_exocet_carbon_tt_frame_and_seatpost
