The poll shows that 70% of people (or people who voted anyway) want cyclists to have registration. Cunts.
heraldsun readers are worse than sun or daily fail readers. I'm surprised it's only 70%.

VM is not the problem.
VM was an experiemtn to see if moving to 32-bit Windows made a difference.
The laptop is running Win7 x64 native. It's also a laptop which means no new soundcard or video card and the sound control stuff is all outboard in the A&H DX anyway. It's DirextX kernel driver that is causing the latency but how to get around this?
When I say soundcard, I mean 'audio interface' so a USB or firewire audio interface from the likes of m-audio, echo, etc etc.
Native windows audio is notoriously bad for latency without custom drivers written for specific audio hardware.what's the A&H thing? allen&heath dj mixer? does this have an audio interface or just used for mixing?
you could try ASIO4ALL drivers too, they might help, but it's going to a kludge solution.
I'd suggest getting the NI traktor USB audio interface thingy. -
Sony laptop, DirectX drivers are creating massive latency issues with Traktor.
http://www.resplendence.com/latencymon says 18ms for dxgkrnl
Tried all the obvious stuff like bios (locked down), 32 bit Windows in virtual machine, latest drivers for everything, disable everything, etc.
Any ideas DJs/geeks?
Running real-time audio in a VM will always be slow.
You need ASIO drivers, you'll never get low latency with DX. get a new soundcard.

I've gone through far too many cheap lights in the previous year or so, with broken brackets and bad weather sealing being the main problems. splashed out on the exposure flash/flare combo a few weeks ago.
absolutely fantastic so far, nice and bright with great side visibility, great mounting brackets. Charge seems to last for a week or so. Obviously they're not cheap and the proof will be how long they last, but no problems as yet. -

Can anybody recommend a good value turbo trainer to fit a fixed track frame? I've noticed that most of them are quite wide (I assume to fit geared bikes) and seem to be largely compatible with QR skewers...
Any help appreciated!

So, I'm looking at getting a surround sound system for my living room.
Forget about surround sound unless you are spending serious cashish. Spend your audio budget on the best amp and two speakers that you can afford.
You can get some bargains second hand too.
Cheap surround sound systems are a false economy, you're trading sound quality and scale for a gimmicky effect that's never usually set up properly. -

Why is everything so fucking expensive here? $20 for two brake cables?!? Really?!?
Things like specialist bike parts are way more expensive in Australia because of how the pricing works for distributors. Since the market is so small they can't get massive volume discounts like distributors can in Europe and North America, so things are way more expensive. This is not just for bike parts, goes for anything that's not a common consumer product.
I'm not saying shops don't overcharge, but that's only half the story. -
after sweating far too much in a cheap pair of DHB neoprene jobbies I splashed out and got some castelli nano something or other. I don't get super cold hands like it seems many people, these have been perfect so far this winter with nice thin leather palms and seems pretty windproof, which is basically all I need. have some liners for when the snow starts but at the moment they're great.

Buy sweet frame off the forum.
Don't have the tools to get old style BB out, take it to LBS. they inform me that LH cup is completely seized and needs to be sent to Argos in Bristol where they can cut it out without harming the threads. But it isn't cheap. Agree, wait 2 months. Get a phonecall that it's back a few days ago! Ask them to fit a new headset while they've still got it, and I get another phonecall today saying that's fine, but where are the forks? Either them or argos have misplaced them.

Only £12.95 too, so it doesn't break the bank.

3 watt front light and 1/2 watt rear light.
Bought this recently and while the front is nice and bright with a decent bracket, the rear is bright but a way to slow flash cycle, and it doesnt have the 'group ride' mode that the very similar smart 1/2 watt rear has. Fine for a spare but will be buying a smart half watt rear (again) for primary duties.
