The spacing allows you to hang your washing on the lower line and also to use something like this to spread the tension across the two wires to avoid the bottom one sagging and the top becoming really taught. Although in fairness I'm sure once you have a couple of items hung it would create a gap anyway no matter how close the ends are.
Anyway, you're probably right, gonna crack on and give it a shot with what I can cobble together from UK eBay and stop procrastinating about it.

Does anyone know where I can get a couple of those big pulleys for a looped clothes line? The only ebay sellers I can find are based in the US, or look like they wouldn't last a year in the UK's wettest city.
Was thinking of making something from 4 smaller surface mounted pulleys but not sure it'll work well with the smaller radius.
This kind of thing:

I need to knock up a kind of small retaining wall for a 3M diameter round patio, basically a concrete ring, in to which I can compact sub-base and on to which I can lay a round patio kit. It'll end up partially above current ground level so needs shuttering.
My question is this: will 3mm hardboard be up to the job of shuttering if steaked in place, or do I need to go to something more sturdy (and expensive) like UPVC utility board?

You did it! I wasn't expecting that unfolding story to end well if I'm honest. Should have had more faith in you.
I have managed to do exactly nothing to my garden today, despite taking the day off almost specifically for that purpose.
I think the 'almost' was my big mistake.
At least it's covered in tarp now so not growing any more weeds.

Thinking of crossing a line I never thought I would and getting a Nest Audio, my phone's probably doing a pretty good job of spying on me anyway, so I might as well go all-in.
Can anyone comment on the audio quality?
I do actually have some pretty descreet and ok sounding panel speakers that I might like to use but it doesn't look like any of the Nest options have a stereo out or the ability to power external speakers. Is there anything else I should be looking at that fits the bill of integrating with google and powering external speakers?
Edit: I guess adding a small bluetooth receiver/amp is going to be the easiest way

Finally got the work computer over the line. Another 5950x. Looking forward to having double the rendering speed in Vray! New supplier has Noctua CPU coolers too.

The other arguments seem excessively pedantic... memory speed hasn't been a bottle neck for years, the bottlenecks are predominantly storage and network, and then the number of physical cores. You would not notice mild memory differences, only big jumps in total memory volume.
Fair point, a little more reading about and I was getting that feeling!
Yes I did think about the upgrade thing, given it's not my money paying for it I think it's easier to get it over the line now with a cheaper price. Apparently we're moving everything to the cloud in a few years. 64Gb serves me fine for now.

Anyone care to answer this to save me some time digging around in manuals
I've secced a computer with:
AMD Ryzen 9 5950x processor
ASUS® ROG STRIX X570-F GAMING motherboard
and currently 4 x 16GB RamPerson A says this will not be optimal because the processor has 2 memory channels
Person B says it doesn't matter because the Ram is divided in to Channel 1 A/B and Channel 2 A/BWho's correct?
MB specs seem to say 4 sticks is fine

Does anyone have experience of a fairly cheap but decent 50w-ish Bluetooth receiver/amp they can recommend? I'm tempted to get a 'nobsound' from Amazon if only for the name but I fear it might burn my house down.
