Muchos gracias for the feedback gents!
@ed Yeah... the saddle needs to be moved back, but it's only that far forward because the reach is a bit long right now. Once I've got a shorter stem on I'll move it back. As for the layback, I bought the inline after a forummer here pointed out a good deal on Thomsons at CRC. The Thomson laybacks remind me of Peter Crouch trying to score a header.
It rides very nicely, so much so I tried riding over the worst bits of road I could find (not particularly difficult in Central), and I reckon the saddle smooths out the bumps. Until it's stolen that is... then I'll put a more appropriate/normal saddle on it.
@jakebrown silver cranks would've been nicer, but that's all there was on ebay at the time. Naturally, a plethora of similarly priced silver groupsets appeared shortly after.
@everyone Still not sold on the saddle? Well, if we ever we meet at drinks etc, you're more than welcome to have a ride and experience both the speed and plushness of my touracer!

I'll be the first to admit that I don't know as much about bikes as a lot of you, but there are so many nice bikes on this forum that I really wanted one of my own. I thought a steel frame would ride nicely across the shitty roads here and a sprung saddle would result in a more pleasant ride.
So, I got a frame off eBay, had it resprayed twice, bought bits and pieces for it before finally giving up on the idea of going Shimergo, and just got a proper groupset.
A word on the paint... the first respray was disappointing, the second one was done by Condor and is a gorgeous pearlescent blue!
Yeah... there's some stuff I need to do, such as replace the yellow tyres with normal black ones (going for gatorskins), adjust the saddle angle, move the saddle back, get a shorter stem and add an extra layer of bartape in a colour that matches the saddle.
The ride is pretty good too!

@Ollyit, I'm slightly shorter than you at 5'7" and have a Giant TCR in a Medium. The seattube and cranks (172.5mm) suit me fine, but the reach was a little far for my stubby arms and I've swapped the 110mm stem for a 90mm .
All is good!
Incidentally, why are you getting the Defy 5? There's a Defy 4 on sale at Ash Cycles for £439... http://www.ashcycles.com/site/giant-defy-4-triple-2011?zenid=3a482722cfd40b58136c1f9c37ec09ff

I know someone over from Berlin from mid-July to October who is looking for a place, but preferably a flat swap. He says...
"My Berlin-Mitte studio, 40 sqm, off Torstrasse, 5 min walk to Rosenthaler Platz, for three months (15.07. - 15.10.) for a central London room/studio/flat."
PM your details/spiel and I'll forward it on to him.

Hey guys,
It was just a thought, but I've got a nice frame that would look great like this... http://www.pedalroom.com/bike/wilier-cromovelato-788.
so I was wondering where I could get a frame and forks cromovelato'ed and how much it would be.
I guess it's a bit of a longshot and expensive, but any info would be appreciated.
thanks!

Apols if this thread/info already exists, but I've not been able to find it.
I've cobbled together an ultra torque drivetrain - I've got Super Record UT BB cups, carbon Centaur UT cranks and pro-lite ceramic bearings.
My question regards the BB cups... do I need a seal for the cups, as I'm not using SR cranks, and the non-SR UT BB cups apparently have a seal that SR cups don't?
If I do need a seal would this do? http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=52660
Muchas gracias.

The Easter Bunny very kindly left me a set of Sugino Grand Mightys. I was wondering if you knew of any matching bar tape? The cranks are 'champagne' like the ones in this thread http://www.lfgss.com/thread55347.html. I don't think gold bar tape is a match.
I'm intending to put the cranks on my Felt http://s.wiggle.co.uk/images/felt-brougham-2010-zoom.jpg. It's mostly black now and the only white bits left are the rear tyre, seatpost clamp, chainring, stem and grips.
Thanks in advance and Merry Christmas to all!
PS Anyone got any dustcaps going?
