Thanks everyone. its a slightly difficult one as they're going on a skinny slx frame. So trying to work what will look nice as well as ride nice is tricky.

Clincher, shimano, nothing too deep. Light would be nice.

You can take a spur socket from another socket providing the first is not a spur itself.

Its an old tricolor shimano 600.

If i've got a standard road chainset (shimano 600 42/53) and a short cage rear derailleur (8s) what's the biggest tooth count I can get on the back?

I'm interested in these. i'll measure my head tube when i get home.

I've just come up against a problem though. I can't really afford to replace the wheels. and the rear is a screw on freewheel fitting.

I've got big apples on one bike (wired) and folding super motos on another and the difference is night and day!

Awesome! Love it. I'm going to put some 29er tyres on mine and take it on the south downs way. Haven't been cycling for ages as I've been manically busy working and renovating my house. But can't wait to get out now!
