I'm using a short cage on my road bike and with 32 cassette and standard front double. It works perfectly despite shimano saying the max is 30. or possibly 28, can't remember
I did a lot of on/offroad riding over the holiday on my straggler set up like this.
It's so comfortable for long days and the Nano's (from Jontea) are excellent offload and not at all bad on road.
I've changed the rear "mudguard" as it was pretty much useless. I've got a standard SKS on there now.
If you want a super light old mtb alu frame, Ellsworth can be picked up cheap.
GT made lots of decent ones in the mid to late 90's too and they look good.
they are nice, but I'm after something for the southdowns and all the bridal ways around here lots of which require road riding to get to. so I need something for everything.
A gravel tyre like the rock n road would be perfect but i can't find them anywhere.
I was going to buy the wtb nano 700x40 for my Straggler. however, everywhere seems to be sold of of the decent folding ones. So, I need an alternative. I want something fast rolling but around the 40c size and with decent offroad ability. what shall I go for?
Yeah i'm quite impressed. if I had a bike that took those wheels, i'd try them I think.
