I've had heated words with a few people that voted remain (at work in London) who now say we should just get on with it and leave. They believe that we would look weak if we tried to stay now. Im of the opinion that it looks weaker to dig our heels in and be stubborn and STILL leave despite knowing its like shooting ourselves in the knees. both of them. with a cannon.

-
We all live in our own echo chambers, our own little worlds. Some believe remain will win if there's a new ref. Some believe leave would win. The people around both those sets of people reinforce that view.
Polite coherent reasonable discourse is almost impossible with the other side no matter which side you are on. Both think they are right and the other side is wrong. Both get frustrated that the other side doesn't take their concerns seriously.
Our country is divided, broken. Civilisation globally is approaching it's endgame. Our most enlightened phase is truly proving to also be our most brainless.

Yeah essentially you just switch between accounts and its super simple to pay funds into it from your main monzo account or from elsewhere as it has a regular sort code and account number.
It really is simple to set up too. one of you creates the 'association' a notification goes to them to confirm and theres some confirmation stuff to click through but its all simple.
-
Viola are just the beginnings of another start up trying to create a buzz around their potential offering. Essentially they are offering the same as revolut in a prepaid cash card with the same bells and whistles in the app as revolut and monzo but the key difference I can see so far is that Viola charge a monthly account fee of £4 for the privilege. Yes revolut do charge you if you decide to go premium but...you can choose not to but with Viola you dont have that choice.
-
Also, my better half and I just moved in together. Shes not been a customer of Monzo previously. for her to join get all her details was minutes. Then for us to set up a joint account was similar. its just so much easier than any of the other options.
Contrast that with Halifax where we popped in on a saturday to try do the same as we both have HBOS accounts so thought it would be easy to just get a joint account. We were asked to make an appointment for during the week or a few weekends time and bring a mountain of paperwork to do so.
-
in the app I can see a sort code and account number which seems to suggest you have a current account but a quick search of that sort code comes up with 'Prepay Technologies Ltd' in Swindon which suggests they have allocated a 'Virtual' account to enable card payments (as revolut is still currently only a prepay cash card effectively)
Once current accounts are rolled out and they begin using an agency bank proper I would expect those accounts to change.
Monzo are full current account and one im going to make the switch to for my monthly banking (DD's, STO's, larger payments.) while I still use revolut for my small purchases and anything abroad in the types of places where card fraud often happen. Cafes restaurants, shops etc.
This means I can keep a smallish balance on my revolut card and if fraudsters clone it, it will limit my exposure. Meanwhile my normal salary is safe with Monzo (TSB currently)
I like using revolut this way because it rounds up my transactions then x3 into a separate pot and I dont miss that much. Ive almost got £500 sitting there as a small saving pot which I haven't really missed. once I hit 500 ill transfer it elsewhere to actually grow and start again.
Monzo do similer but no x3 multiplier which I have asked for them to do.
I haven't investigated starling too heavily yet. I already have waaaay too many current accounts really.

I think its quite telling that Nige has been travelling the country whipping up the troops. He might be the lowest form of life in this country but he can clearly see whats coming and hes totally ready to frame the conversation along the lines of 'Brexit is being stolen from you. take to the streets, punch a foreigner'
Especially when in reality its more like a donations funding drive to steal money from the poor. Got to admire him. (I dont, I really dont) hes made coming from a privileged background yet somehow convinced the working man hes one of them a work of art.

"imo people understanding the influence of unelected unaccountable ex-spads using the sort of targeted covert advertising that was weaponised is really fucking material."
also, this. Both aspects are hugely important to me. People accept what they read in papers and online so very easily and the ability to manipulate viewpoints is a very real danger in such a modern connected age. current technologies are moving so much faster than any legislation designed to protect individuals from such clandestine activities can ever hope to move.

I can understand why she might be biased in that regard, her and a colleague spent two years investigating the illegality of all the leave campaigns.
Also, and I am definitely no expert on this and suffering from some fatigue with regards to brexit so also less caring about it all, but weren't there campaign spending limits in place which is why there were so many leave campaigns and that whistleblower, (whats his name? Wylie? you know the yoof with the funny coloured hair, yes thats him) were transferred from 'Vote Leave'to set up a seperate campaign 'BeLeave' and given a ~£600k donation to run targeted advertising on behalf of vote leave.
or something like that.
Edit: some source, the independant investigation reporting
https://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/politics/brexit-illegal-vote-leave-eu-referendum-dossier-whistleblowers-chris-wylie-shahmir-sanni-a8275041.htmland from that article:
"They said the dossier, along with witness statements from Mr Wylie and Mr Sanni, “strongly suggest” a donation of almost £680,000 made by Vote Leave to BeLeave was actually used for Vote Leave’s benefit. The money was not recorded as Vote Leave expenditure, but if it had it would have taken the group’s spending over the legal £7m limit, breaching electoral law."
So I think it doesnt matter how much could have been monetized, to keep the campaign legal you couldnt spend it...maybe. im new to all this political shenanigans. I vote we bring back the days where it didnt matter if I didnt care about this shit. Im tired of trying to understand it and keep abreast of it all tbh

he didnt push heavily for it because if he had he still wouldnt have gotten it. And to not get it while Rs control both houses makes him look very weak.
To begin pushing for it as soon as Dems enter the house means he gets to blame them for the shut down and all the hardship that gov workers face while everything is shut. Trump believes he is the master of the deal and he loves framing issues like this as the otherside are the bogeymen so I can well believe its a case of who blinks first. I think as long as the Dems keep passing reasonable bills up the line and he rejects them then public support for the wall will dissolve and more pressure will be on everyone to resolve.

Subbed and coming back for advice later when I am home and can take pics. Have a pair of Jeans and a pair of trousers that I have ripped recently both of them in the exact same place as above. I am a complete noob with needle or machine so might have to you tube a few videos before attempting anything on the actual trousers

Green cards needed to prove your insurance for driving abroad. Oh and IDP will probably be required too.
