I know, but those maddux rims with their 23mm outer 18ish inner put out exacly the same tyre profile as would any modern and good rim. So I do not think changing from 23mm maddux to similar size enve or another brand give me more tyre clearance.

got a slam that stem cover from lbs. Now waiting for wheels. And ordered a cheap 17 deg stem to see if its too low.

my 56 caad12 has 172,5 so quite likely they have the same across the range

enve or easton low rise is quite hip. Just search for something with low rise (10-20) and somewhat amount of upsweep. and keep it wide (+64cm)

everything above toptube is quite bad. Would do much better with slammed stem and modern fashionable wide lowrise riser. And saddle leveled out

they are still to arrive. From the same ebay guy I got my rychtarski-hhsb-wheels from: cn-carbon. I know farsports and light bicycle have better rims but cn carbon costs way less. Before the tax gamble I paid 340e for those when farsports quoted me for 590 dollars + 100 shipping for wheels with marginally better rim design (no brake track and few millimeters wider inner. Same weight 1650)

i'd guess it is around 8,5-8,6kg at the moment. should be close to 8,0 with new wheels. Def with new stem as well

depends on your body. If i recall steve hogg has said something like smp requiring 10-15mm less setback. Not zero setback post per se

yeah I went to my lbs and they gave me a supersix bearing cap. It turned out to be too large. Used a random 15mm conical I found from parts bin with 5 microspacers, including one I cut out of a beer can

might have to go 5mm later but I'll try with this setup first.

might need some fiddling with microspacers of course

is there something special about caad headtubes or does a headset top like this work?
