1+
always been using John Lewis to get the 2 years warranty.
You know how the john lewis warranty works?
year 1 is the same applecare plan you get for free with all macs
year 2: you take your computer to john lewis (or post it to them), they then post it to apple, who repair it, and post it back. It can take 6+ weeks.
I'd happily pay £200 to get my machine fixed in-house, often while you wait, and for 3 years instead of 2. £200 after 3 years is cheaper than £1200 after 2.

who cares? if you want to use osx you need a mac or a hackintosh. lifes too short to fuck about with firmware and terminal so a mac it is.
i don't care what your reasoned argument is about cost etc. pc's look shit, they don't run the software i use, don't run osx. end of.
need a roomful of pc's for geeks to do spreadsheets? sure get pc's it's cost effective and one spotty geek you pay peanuts can look after them.Hactually, as part of my slightly changed job role, I am now spending loads of time making spreadsheets. And i can safely say that numbers kicks the shit out of excel. Its so much easier and more intuitive.
Yes, you can't do macros with numbers, but i don't even have a fucking clue what they are so I don't care.
So basically, mac (in my view) does typically windows-oriented tasks better than PCs do. So there!! Nyer.

Failing to become the European capital of culture around the millenium -
Just ordered a 1TB drive to replace the failing drive in my G5.
According to my afternoon's reading about such stuff, once the new drive is fitted I can boot from the Leopard disc and then backup straight from my time capsule.
It sounds worryingly easy, what have I forgotten?? Can you run 10.5 on PowerPC architecture?

quick question.
looks like I will be taking over my friends iphone 4 contract, so what with iphones being registered to one computer and all, I need to know whether I just reset his phone, wipe all info off it and then sync it to my computer or if there is more to it than that.
also anyone done the same thing, I'm out of contract with o2, but would like to swap over numbers but not sure how difficult/doable that is, if the contract can't be put into my name?
thanks in advance
Corny: one phone call to o2 to unlock phone, a visit to an o2 shop for a microsim and swapmysim.o2.co.uk is all you need. O2 is the easiest of all networks to transfer to microsim.

Its all about the dog kennel hill sainsbury's. no riff raff, low percentage of hipsters.
On the other hand it more than 85% of people in it at any given time are pregnant (in fact I think i nearly got pregnant there just out of sympathy), and all the men seem to wear ugg boots or their derivatives, and look completely puzzled with life and generally a bit bewildered.
Also it's currently closed. Fucking sundays

Never played fallout, is it really that good?
Should I start with fallout 1, or just go straight to 3?
interesting question.
1 and 2 were both isometric top-down RPGs similar in appearance to Baldur's Gate.
The storylines and characters in 1 and 2 are very entertaining, but it is an old game and can be quite challenging and slow-paced by comparison with more modern games.
I'd say 2 is easier to get into than 1, primarily because 1 actually has a time limit on it (can't remember the details of it though).

sam, you need to manage your expectations. Just because you are really excited that you are building your first fixed wheel bicycle doesn't mean that other forum members are obliged to share that enthusiasm.
From the point of view of someone who has posted on here since '07, there is really nothing of any interest or relevance in this thread beyond the fact that you're excited. It's great that you're excited, but frankly, what the fuck do you want us to do about that?
I have seen literally thousands of threads like this, and thousands more posts in current projects. In fact I have even seen other models of that exact frame posted on this website. As have countless other users. Threads that this community value are those that provide original content, or that are funny, or informative. Yours thus far has been none of those things. Sadly the internet removes many people's self restraint, and thus you've had a rough time of your first thread, but I thought I'd just explain the reasons beneath the aggro.
We aren't an internet-based gratification service. We are going to yell 'WOW COOL FIXIE MAN, YOU'RE SO RAD' or 'CAN'T WAIT TO SEE YOUR BIKE FINISHED, LOLOLOL' every time someone posts an ebay ad of an old steel frame.
Sorry about that.

good. glad we got that cleared up.
