Hi Halbert, sorry I must have notification by email turned off. It must have been a late 90s Veloce 9 speed hub. I'm pretty sure it was pre-10 speed but, as we know, 9 and 10 speed are interchangeable. Either way, it accepts a 10 speed cassette just fine. You may need to re-dish the rear wheel though. My LBS thought I needed a new axle at first as well but turned out not to be the case.

Mavic GP4 rims on Campag Chorus 10 speed cassette hubs, 32 spokes & campag skewers. - £65 ono please plus delivery (I'll be in London 6-8 December if you can wait for hand delivery) . Originally 8 speed hubs, cassette body swapped for a Veloce body so I could use it with a 10 speed bike. I still have the 8 speed body somewhere so if someone wants this too for an additional amount. I'd like £65 for the pair or a near offer. Wheels seem to have plenty of life left, little wear to the rims as they we my race wheels & hubs are smooth but not as new. Here's my Roberts Audax in blue & silver. Do have the original forks too which are lovely & I really should refit them but my spares were for threadless & I got a deal on the carbon forks.
One great feature is Roberts spaced the brake bridges to the absolute bottom of the long reach calipers so it can take 32mm tyres & still squeeze in mudguards. It has had a rack & panniers but looks nicer without them.
Bought this from someone off eBay & picked it up from him at Waterloo Station, it currently resides in Cardiff but it's done the occasional cross-London trek from Paddington down to Kingston.
This is my 2nd 2nd-hand Roberts, first was a pink Columbus SLX I bought in 1988 (!) & actually did some races on it. Wish I'd kept it, C-Record Delta & all!
Love to be able to get a new one one day but this will do for now.

I do I do! I cycle up and down my road outside house doing it. Thought I had got it down but then I get distracted and it all goes out my head and my left foot starts flailing about like a twat.
In my defence it's been about a week since throwing away the clips and straps
Not that I threw them away. They are in the shed
Well it sounds like you've mastered avoiding the slow sideways fall of shame so you're nearly there.
When I first tried clips & straps in traffinc I ended up on the bonnet of a furious motorist's car at a red light on the Kings Road . All I remember is pushing myself back upright & pedalling off like a nutter through the red light as his curses faded away! I got used to them eventually.
My first clipless pedals were Time ones & ended up doing the slow "oh no I'm not going to hold it" sideways thing a few times before I got the hang of it, first time in front of a packed cafe at the top of Box Hill when I tried to pull away in too big a gear & then somewhere at traffic lights on Portsmouth Road somewhere near Tooting.
Just embrace it as a rite of passage!

Still getting used to the novelty of having more than one Brit rider to choose from in the peloton these days, Cav is best until Wiggins wins Le Tour. Even better that neither of them are dull, Cav is hilariously narky post race if it hasn't gone his way & Wiggo's Paul Weller obsession is good for a laugh too. His comeback ride in the Vuelta last year was great to watch. Full marks to Cav for getting through the whole Giro, is this long-term preparation to make sure he's in with a chance at the Olympics?

I have bags full of old cantis if anyone wants some. Not quite sure why got so many, most unbranded happy to give away if people cover post.
Do have a pair of black Control Tech cantis though to sell if anyone interested. Same as these (http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_NbIGWWUsrQs/R4V4rE-qQoI/AAAAAAAAAgY/_p9tLIZfdDw/s1600-h/Control+Tech+Cantis.jpg) mine are used but in good condition, weigh only 140 grams according to the label on the box

Huh, £50 for pitlocks! I got a pair Allen Key quick releases for about £10-£15 for security on a commuter but was able to use them to convert a front road tub wheel for track use no problem. Used it at Newport Velodrome, previously they made me tape up the road quick release as a temporary measure so I wouldn't have a wasted trip on my first session.
What's sold, the Neutron rims or the Protons? Seen your ad for these on Retrobike so we can continue the conversation there.
