Technically it wasn't fully dead, just mostly dead.
Newt gave it a tentative nibble but seemed a bit freaked out by the wriggling.
Our cat brings in worms and flies all the time. One bird, but otherwise just worms and flies.

Jono doesn't make contact with the shoulder, he's in his arm pit. It probably wasn't illegal (and I can't be arsed to check), but it's not a clean check and Jon should have been off IMO.
