first impressions are good. im used to a suspension fork on my singlespeed 26" bike so anything would seem a bit harsh, but i was pretty comfy all the way to work. certainly no more harsh than any other geared road bike ive ever ridden. needs a bit of adjustment of the riding position but thats always the way. need some chain adjusters to help set the chain tension. cant seem to get it quite right.

now that my look is on the road, its time to start rebuilding the 1964 (i think) raleigh blue strike i have sat in the shed. it looks fucked but we can rebuild it. off to argos for a respray over christmas i think. then rebuild wheels, new tyres and a shit load of polish and shes there. my wife doesnt even seem to have noticed its arrival. ace.

Yeah got the cover and stuff, but not cables and stuff. Mine was ordered about a month ago and had been at the shop ever since. I think it was one of the last of that batch so maybe they've changed it a bit. Who knows. Wasn't going to run a rear brake anyway. Just annoying I can't fit my front brake yet. Hey ho.

I was going to tap up the mechanic at my lbs and see if he has one kicking around the workshop. He usually has random shut like that. Failing that I'll phone fishers and ask where the fuck the one that should have come with it is?? Hopefully it'll cost me nothing. As a last resort, I'll have to foot the bill for one. Shimano do them (27mm) for about £4.50.
Rear bridge is defo not drilled. The fishers rep told me the track one should have no brake holes at all. -

as lolo says. they have the undrilled track version and the bandwagon jumping predrilled fixie (their name) version. i got the latter. that way i have the option. and as its my first proper fixed (i usually ride singlespeed), i thought it would be prudent. all the fixies ive ridden had (a) brake(s). im super stoked with it though so far. i have another post i can use but i want some layback and the thomson i have doesnt have any.

if its welded poperly, there no reason why it couldnt be strong enough. thats the whole point of welding, its strong. the ends of the bar need to be chamfered so that full depth penetration can be achieved. and yes, i know that sounds rude.
