Apple and passwords continues to fuck me off.
You get that thing where it says "do you want safari to remember your password?" and it works most of the time, but every so often it seems to forget them, and you have to request new passwords.
It defies logic. either it remembers passwords or it doesn't. I've been logging into British Gas to submit my meter readings for years, and BFI to buy tickets, but this weekend I've had to request new passwords for both because my MacBook has suddenly decided not to autofill them. -
I grew up in Gloucestershire, and it is mainly lovely. Gloucester itself can be a bit grimy and unwelcoming.
I used to have lots of friends from Stroud, who used to proudly tell me that relative to its size, it had the highest proportion of registered heroin addicts of anywhere in the British Isles, which is nice. -

I know we've gone though all this before, but apple are the absolute worst for passwords.
I need to upgrade my iCloud storage, but apparently my apple id and password are invalid (the ones it took fucking ages to re-set the last time, and I made sure I kept a record of), so the system has locked me out.
Now I can't even log in and reset my password -again- and it is telling me to try again later. -
I wouldn't be here if it wasn't for the NHS, so I literally have them to thank for my life.
However, when I first went to my GP, when I thought there was something wrong, I was told there was a 4 week wait to see a doctor.
I paid £80-odd quid to see a private doctor in one of those walk-in clinics, and they knew immediately what was wrong with me. They told me to bugger off back to the NHS and make a fuss until I was listened to.
How many people give up at the 4 week wait, or don't take it any further because they don't want to be any bother?
Once I was in the system, under an NHS oncologist, I was fine. But I really wonder how many people die of cancer because the initial meeting with a GP is such bloody hard work. -
I had a square-taper super-record bottom bracket that just seemed to come unglued. The two halves of alloy stuff came off the carbon tube holding them together.
Replaced it with a Royce titanium one which is a thing of beauty, and will probably be discovered in perfect working order by archaeologists from another planet, aeons after our civilisation has vanished. -

Paid Advertorial in today's paper, but it's Nelson from my local, who has his own beer called Nelson's Whiskers.

Bit of an awkward problem with the Guzzi. Somewhere between London and Cornwall at the weekend, one of the bolts holding the pannier frame sheared off (vibration I guess). Panniers are held by three bolts each side, so was in no real danger of actually losing one, but it was very vibey until I noticed, ducked into a tool shop and did the journey back with the frame lashed on with ratchet straps, just to be on the safe side.
The annoying bit is that the offending bolt is right under the seat, so hard to get at, and sheared flush, so there is no way of gripping it with anything to try and undo it. It is going to be a bugger of a job to try and drill out... -

Looking at all the stuff in the news at the moment regarding people getting mugged for their bikes. I know it's centred on scooters, but it does make me wary of riding in town. Is there a gizmo I can fit to the bike, with a proximity sensor I can wear around my neck with my data tool blipper, so that if my bike gets ridden off without me it will cut the engine after 100m or so?

I've got H&B racks and hard cases. They've been great until this year, when one of the bolts holding the frame to the bike sheared. It's a bugger of a job to drill out without taking the back wheel off, but I am finally the proud owner of a 90 degree drill adapter and a set of left-handed drill bits, so hopefully I'm a step closer to a solution.
I love the hard cases though. Get yourself down to Muji and get some of these zip-up garment bags. They weigh nothing, come in tons of different sizes and make packing things in panniers really easy.
