Firstly, I would like to apologise in anticipation, I'm not sure where this should have gone, but shopping sounds most relevant.
I was wondering whether the Kryptonite locks found at quite a few stalls across Brick Lane are genuine? They seem very much so, but with up to 50 percent off the RRP in some cases.
Has anyone had any experiences with buying one off them? I'm considering it, but I don't want my newest bike to be back on Brick Lane the following week!

Brick Lane was an absolute gold mine this morning, I'm sorry to say for anyone who has lost their bike. Many many very dodgy sales going on, too many to list.
A Create bike, fixed with two brakes and very wide handlebars stuck out. I don't have a brilliant description but if you've lost one that could have been it.
What struck me the most, and I'm deeply apologetic that I didn't bring it home, was an absolutely beautiful red Holdsworth. Lovely engravings on the seat stem, nice lugs, etc. I saw a smackhead with it and I instantly recognized a description from someone earlier in this thread. The smackhead sold it to a deaf seller for 20 quid. I almost interjected because the deaf guy was declining a lot. The deaf guy then sold it within minutes for 40 quid to, whom I believe I recognize as Mr Chinese man. I was sooo tempted to buy it, really nice set of wheels, seat had be covered up in black tape but it had the original Holdsworth marking on the seat stem so I'm sure it was nice, an he'd replaced the handlebars with some tacky mountain bike ones. Really sorry if it was yours, in my defence I don't know where I would have stood legally buying a stolen bike, although the number of people down there indicate how little people care about buying a clearly stolen bike. Also, this might distinguish it if it's yours: the dropouts had two security protected stickers on it. I really hope it's tagged so you can catch the bastard. That put me off being chivalric though, as I thought the ambivilent law would not accept the excuse 'I bought it to return it'.
Annnyway, sorry for going on but that was my highlight today, again my sincere apologies if it was your bike, I would have happily bought it for twenty or even forty quid (done up, I'm sure it could have fetched 200-300 for the frame alone) if I knew where I stood in the eyes of the law.
Oh and by the by, I didn't spot one policeman on my journey around today.

stolen tonight from outside the Londesborough in Stokey, a very pretty Colnago, blue and white frame, campag wheels, really distinctive hand-embroidered saddle, blue leather with those fancy colnago clubs and shit.. if any sees it can they call James 07970 425941...thanks
Ah damn, I've seen you around, your bike is lovely. I'm often around that area, will keep my eyes peeled. Might have been the local Shakespeare gang, check the old dodgy bike repairs shop just off Milton Grove, they might try and sell it to him.

Hmm my case is quite unusual as it was more of a robbery than a theft (something like that)- it was like to a mugging. Particularly with rare bikes I've heard insurance can be a right pain. Apparently our home contents premium is £250 so taking into account what the insurance will rise by we have decided it's not worth claiming
on. Unfortunately it's either recover it somehow, or a loss of not only money but a really lovely bike.
Them putting tape on it makes me think they've probably taken it to use themselves. Bastards. -

Thank you for this mate. It is useful and I'm happy to know it's still within the local vicinity. Do you have any other info? What was he wearing, what colour was the tape, did you get any visual on him? Any info will really help, thanks a lot.
And yes Camdenstrangler, you spotted dodgy Bianchi man too! That bike was kind of hawt...
I did not see a Lemond of any sort, sorry can't help you there. :(
I've seen that within the last week or so on Prince of Wales road, near the overland station and heading from KT towards Chalk Farm.
The Holdsworth stickers have been covered over but the colour and everything looks right.
I'll keep an eye out and if I see it again will be sure to folow him.
In edit. It woud have been Thursday evening - around 7ish.

You need to go earlier to catch the really nice bikes, 8am-ish. My dad is pro at recovering stolens. There wasn't that much notable today, as you said Mr Chinaman was selling some ridiculously nice forks. The van nextdoor to him has an industrial tool thingy (for cutting locks) on blatent show, scummy looking guy.
I agree with the whole police presence thing, absolute farce. Didn't see one at all in my time spent there today. Seen a group of CSO's down in Angel giving out balloons to kids and flimsy locks (which any decent thief would crack open in seconds), one CSO dressed up in a police mascot outfit. I hate to sound Daily Mail-esque but it's outrageous. -

I have many pictures and am almost certain it is his bike. Only thing is there is not red tape. They must have put some new tape on. Some kids must have stolen it and sold it to that shop for a cheap price. They offered it to me for £250 I declined and they said they'd do it for cheaper. They offered a test ride and I was contemplating taking it for you but I couldn't be sure it was actually your bosses. It has a carbon fibre bottle cage, that's quite a distinguishing feature.

Just seen a beut of a red raleigh frame with purple deep V's in Dulwich just off Rye lane near the tesco's. Ridden by a very young kid - too big for him, gang of kids around him - hope it's not stolen but if so it's there
Fuckers. You described that in a way which makes me rage. This whole thread makes me rage..

Have just looked. Have photos etc. But as only have iPhone access will email the owner if he wants to see. I didn't see red bar tape, it was black. Very identifiable carbon fibre bottleholder. She wanted 250 for it which I promptly declined, and she offered a discount. Was offered a test ride too (my acting skills are impeccable) but I decided the consequences would be harsh I it wasn't his bike.
Also has some form of computer on it, can't identify from the photo. Pm if you want pictures.

There is a small geared, grey Felt outside a second hand shop on Green Lanes where it joins Newington Green just near the Tesco's. Didn't have time to stop and ask about it and had no phone to take a pic but it didn't feel right. Might be worth a look
I'm going past there in about 30 mins on my way back from work. I will try and get photos, if it doesn't look too dodgy.

Yes it is home contents, is that better? That relieves me somewhat.. until I'm hit with a bombshell that I'm not covered!
I'm not sure what it was reported as, the PCSO who reporte was absolutely hilarious. He didn't know where Camden Road was, and when I told him that I will check Brick Lane he thought it was groundbreaking that people sold stolen bikes there- he said
he'd put it on the system so other officers could see it, shocking!
Amazon too is a tempting option. Hmm.
