Arrived home today to a letter stating that the case was being 'closed due to a lack of evidence'. I reported it on Friday, so they clearly think a week is a sufficient time period.
What makes me livid is that I've been trying to contact the Safer Neighbourhood's sergeant for 4 days now, and have been told he will call back. Utter imcompetent police force Kentish Town. They will be recieving fuming letter tomorrow.. -

No, I don't live anywhere near Camden so it's not like I can just go and check every few hours unfortunately. You think it's worth checking? Will it be open on a bank holiday? I thought second hand bike shops would have more sense than to buy stolen bikes. It looks a really flashy bike and if a shady looking black guy (no racism) tried to flog it to you, you'd probably assume stolen.

No, sorry, should have mentioned this earlier; after they took it some girls who knew the thieves called them and tried to get them to give the bike back. Although it came to nothing (they said they were going to bring it back but then apparently turned their phones off). However, this person will know who stole it. And have their numbers. And police could easily find out from this source, if they're willing to give their info.
Thanks for the offer Strangler but I think parents' home contents covers the bike if it isn't found by the police- but I really can't replace this bike.. -

Friend has a name which might be pivotal if the police can actually be bothered to do some interrogation - a girl who tried to convince the thieves to come back after they'd taken it (on her phone), she knows who they are. Whether they are actually willing to reveal identities over confidentiality issues is a different matter.
My biggest worry is that it's in kit form now. I wonder if they are smart enough to do so.. -

You think? It's a really nice area but one of radical social extremities and a lot of crime because of that. Really rough kids on soe estates with opportunities of making vast amount of money by taking stuff off the wealthy. Been at school in Camden for two years now and that was my first bit of bother.. tempus fugit and all.

Was sitting in Cantalowes Park, getting a bit merry as you do on your last day of formal education.. then was approached by three dodgy looking guys with beer bottles who picked up my bike, which was right next to me. My mate shouted to get some attention (there were about 50 of us at Cantalowes) and they threw a glass bottle at him. They then proceeded to run down Busby Avenue and up Orsney Crescent. Another friend went charging after them and I was shitting myself that he was going to run around the corner and they were gunna kick the shit out of him/stab him if he caught up.
Luckily, he didn't, but he did see their escape route and I have other sources that suggest they are from the Hilldrop or Torriano Estate. Fuckers, I hope they didn't managed to offload it on Brick Lane. They said (through a source) that it had already been sold (that was literally about 7 minutes after it was stolen, sure its bullshit).
But please do keep eyes peeled, I'm no longer around Camden as I've finished bar exams so if anyone does see anything please do contact me or the police, but do avoid contact with them. They're ruthless fuckers. Thanks a lot for this Alex, really do appreciate your help.

Thanks a lot Alex, at the library now. Was my last day of school yesterday and was sitting in Cantalowes park with some friends when three (plzdontjudgeme) black guys came up and literally picked up my bike and started walking off. There was about 40 of us but no one was really in a 'sober state' but then someone realised and chased after them.. they seemed to be heading towards Torriano/Hilldrop Estate.
Really gutted, loved that bike. And it was my last day of school.. -

Seriously, however amusing your posts are, it really isn't that difficult to avoid getting flamed.
Use correct grammar; this will demonstrate you're relatively educated and that you're not going to piss about. List as many details as you can; the will enable people to see whether or not you've just nicked these off the streets or whether you genuinely own these phones.
If that's too difficult, then meet my friend, Mr Gumtree. They welcome your kind of sales with open branches. -
I mean you should try selling a few stamps on here. You'd get a better rep than selling these unarguably cheap and dodgy looking phones. I didn't say stolen. I said cheap. And dodgy. And considering we're from Hackney, people would assume stolen. So. Have a think about that.
From your beloved ex-Stokey colleague,

Hello, I'm looking for an Eddy Merckx Road bike of 21-22 inches (53-56cm).
A full bike is favoured, of course, however I am indeed willing to look at any nice frames which hit this criteria.
I can spend up to and around £700 on this.
I'm not interested in any of the Falcon Eddy Merckx imitations, so please don't bother with these. But other than that, please do not hesitate to contact me with your EM, no matter the condition.
Thanks!
Oh joy of joys. I'm not even sure of the policy yet as parents are away and have just moved house. We are with Santander, but as I have said not sure on the extent of covering.
I'm going to cause a big fuss. There's a cycling awareness thing in Islington and I was chatting to one of the officers today, a nice chap. They are aware that bike crime is significantly rising, and also he told me that bike crime is least prioritized report, something they wish to change.. whether it will happen or not is completely different. Their message was slightly damaged in my eyes as they were giving away flimsy looking locks and had several CSOs giving away balloons. Personally I'd much rather we had actual police out on the street patrolling. Slightly OT but he said he'd make it known that it was a robbery mote than a theft as they are regarded in a more serious manner.
And re this contact, I've tried to raise awareness several times without success. Will include the info in the letter am writing.
