Sorry, re-read OP.... which I didn't do properly first time... didn't realise it was only a couple of months ago, not a lot longer.
Not sure why you haven't asked the person who sold it to you about it, and where they got it from even now?
If you remain unsatisfied by response then Dancing James is right that informing the Police would be the correct option.
There's a strong argument that says we, as cyclists, oft complain that bike theft is not taken seriously enough as a crime - the only way we can do something about it is doing the right thing; and bringing these matters to the attention of the authorities when there's still a chance that doing so will make a difference.

According to the E**ns spec. the Track Pro comes with a rear brake fitted....?

Shirley biggest problem is that you could never ever leave it outside with a paint job like that... bound to attract the thiefs and vandals :-(

Frankly, from where I'm sitting the current recession is pretty frigging fierce..... Shirley it's all relative to individuals..... but then perhaps if I'd had a better grasp of Economics A level 25 years ago I wouldn't be feeling the pinch now.......Hmph....... Food for that.... pork chops this evening in my case.... (chance to merge with Food thread?)

Back to the original thread if I may... anyone managed to fix a rear brake to a Cinelli Vigorelli frame?
Can't find any references elsewhere, rang Tokyo they reckon it could be tad tricky....
Reason being might be able to get myself a new-ish one at a good price, but don't want to ride single braked in town.... !

In addition to taking your pick from all the above - I would write down everything you remember about the incident this morning, down to the smallest detail, including names/addresses/details of the police officers involved/timing/road condtions/the whole soup to nuts, as honestly as you can, and send it to yourself in an email.
That way regardless of whatever options you chose above, you do have an honest recollection of what happened from your perspective. This might include drawing yourself a diagram of the road layout.
