Call again and speak to someone else? I have a Samsung Galaxy sitting in a drawer you could borrow if you need a loan phone. It's slow but it's running 2.2 custom rom.
Sir that was a superbly kind offer, however a mate of mine who understands 'stuff' did something to it and it seems to be in a lot better sorts - not perfect but it'll last me till the new Desire's out or it explodes again - in which case I will once again ring a customer-hating stranger in a call centre in the wilds of Newcastle (tbh I can't really hate them for hating customers, it's a shite job after all) when I will ask them with nauseating politeness "well what would you do in my situation?" a question they hate...
"All calls are recorded.... etc."

- update * Tried a factory reset as a last ditch attempt.... no improvement, and none of my 'settings' available on the SD card - despite me following the instructions (makes a change I know). No chance to boot up old settings despite what the instruction book says.... looks like the chance to talk to those nice people in Newcastle this morning. Hey Ho x2.

Corporate Communications Manager for a household name, international, b-2-b brand.
Central London based, London responsibility to start - moving to wider if things work out.
Hence good prospects, fair salary, nice boss (me), some travel. Suit someone who already got significant brand or agency experience, ideally with a quoted business.
Must be a 'safe pair of hands'.
Those 'hands' also mustn't mind getting dirty either (metaphorically not literally) - no big support team, or agency to delegate to - get stuck in and get results in earned media, as well as lots of making friends in other parts of the business to assist with marcom's, internal com's, IR etc.
'Team Player' is also not an optional skill for the job.
CIPR/CIM membership would show commitment to the sector.
Not going to bother with the full description here, pm me and we'll take it from there if the above makes sense to you and you wanna chat.

if I'm wheezing back from a long lycra embellished ride and someone decides to try and prove an imaginary point on their urban stealth lifestyle choice by momentarily conveying themselves along as fast as they can for a grand total of about 2 minutes, I tend to just show my disdain for their poor and vainglorious mentality by releasing a nice sticky, energy gel laden, warm, fragrant, and above all, sonorous fart just as they pass.
it's disgusting, and I run the risk of following through, but I feel it's the biological equivalent of what they are doing socially and thus the most apt response.
Essentially "marking your territory" as it were. David Attenspelling hiccc-up would be proud.

PM'd - which to be clear could be the same as a 'dibs', or it might not be the same as a 'dibs', but it is certainly an expression of genuine interest and is certainly an acknowledgment that I am behind Mr Cosmicpasty in the Q to investigate this 'ere beast. Which of course is totally impractical, but would - without doubt, meat my requirements of another mid-life crisis and something to be talked about whist cruising down Whitehall.
