Thanks man... I'll show him these tonight.
He wants it for cycling to and from work (8 miles each way from south to central London). I'm pretty sure he wants a OTP bike because when I suggested he swap some parts about on his existing bike he gave me the look of shame.
I mentioned his age not because he is physically old, more because he is set in ways. He is set on needed a new bike. He is set on it being flat bar. He is set on it being as hi spec as possible for that price. He is set on a Orbea (unless I find better) and I just want to make sure there isn't a cheaper equivalent out there. And if not cheaper better for the same price.
Ultimately I just want him to get the right bike... while still he feels he made the decisions why its the best bike for him. Maybe he'll test ride the hybrid and realise he should've stuck to the road bike.
Any other advice would be appreciated.

Hey guys,
so my ladies dad wants a new bike... and yes he wants a hybrid. He's 65 and has always ridden a road bike but now wants something with a more forgiving geo. He's looking at a flat bar kind.So I haven't any knowledge on gears (or brakes) so would love some advice. Being 65 and a man of style he can be stubborn at times and he thinks he wants a Orbea Carpe. They vary between £600 - £1000 depending on model/spec. I can only find so much info on them online and not many shops have them in stock so I'm finding it differcult to track one down and have a look at one.
All I want to know is with the above budget is my father in law spot on in his choice? or is there better hybrids in that price range and what are they?
Thanks,
Ben

Watched Equilibrium last night - bloody brilliant film.
Afterwards I was left wondering if It's based on a book - searched online and I don't think it is.
Anyway this led me on a search for books like this, V for vendetta and 1984 stuck out, so I've brought them not ever reading 1984 I feel like I'm in for a treat.
Anything else along the lines of these kind of books I'd enjoy?
Equilibrium is basically 1984 spliced with the matrix. 1984 is a must read and watch the movie too. Both the book and film aren't as 'sexy' as more modern adaptations but you cant beat the originals. I have a lot of love 1984 as it was the first book I read outside of books we were forced to read at school, comics and skateboard magazines. Ever since reading it I haven't not had a book on the go. Hope you enjoy it.
On a different note...
I have just read Raw Shark Texts by Steven Hall. Amazing! read it! -

3 spots.
Saw a guy wearing a flesh coloured skin suit riding up Jamaica Road this morning about 9.30ish...
Then I followed a guy on a brushed steel/bare aluminium Fuji, fixed with bullhorn bars to Tower Bridge...
Then a lady riding a pale metallic purple single speed overtook me several times from Tower Bridge and up Whitechapel Road. You kept disappearing and 2 secs later shot past me? Then I saw you jump 2 red light. tut, tut.
Hello if you guys are on here

The youth offending team in Richmond have a bike repair and rebuild scheme for the naughty kids...
and the Kingsfield skatepark cafe (aka Kingston skate park) has also just secured a grant for a walk in, peer learning repair shop down the skatepark.
Either of these guys might be worth contacting as they both specialise with working with the youngers.
I'm not 100% sure if the youth offending team scheme is still going... but the Kingston skatepark scheme has just started.
Good Luck -

I saw Carpet Remnants about 2 weeks ago and loved it.
2nd time I've seen him... the 1st was was at Edinburgh with a completed show a few years back. Carpet Remnants is a work in progress. The whole "not my crowd" is a good joke. In his tv show he plays the studio audience against the "dumb" tv audience and when you see it live he plays the left side off the right. If your on the wrong side of the crowd and your offended... you probably just don't get that its a joke.
... if thats the case Lenny Henry has a new show on BBC.

do any exist in small? they look great, just i already have a large bag.
I am currently making some small ones but its a collaboration project with some print designers so they won't be plain... if that is what your looking for.
Also they will be sold through them. We are currently discussing prices etc. That project will keep me pretty busy in the meantime. Maybe in the new year? -

The bags outer materials is a waterproof outerwear material in black.
The lining is an orange PU lined nylon and is very strong and also waterproof.
All seams are double stitched for extra strength.

The shoulder strap which goes over the left shoulder has a 8mm layer of foam in it and is adjustable.
