Gonna bring my dead mbp home in October (mid2010 model I believe). Anybody want it for spares/repairs? The logic board is unequivocally f-ed sadly, and I know that's the valuable bit, and I want to keep the hard drive. I'm not sure if any of the rest of it is worth anything to anyone, but will gladly trade for bike bits, home-made jams, chutneys or pickles, or an apple wireless keyboard/mouse if it's of use to anyone.

In Tokyo for 4-5 days in June. Have read all of the above - little mention of accommodation - can anyone recommend any gems? I wanted to see sumo but it appears that I'm there at the wrong time of year, and someone further up said Keirin in the flesh was a bit meh? Very much a whistle stop tour so would appreciate some first hand advice re: must-sees and missables! Not too interested in shopping - but authentic sightseeing and food are high on my priority list, although trying not to break the bank. Love the list of bike shops above, but my other half would probably become murderous if I dragged her around this many - what's best bet for a local branded cap/shirt etc?

The year doesn't have to start on Jan 1st, think we already covered this. So nothing to stop him recovering, getting back up to form, and then carrying on for the next 12 months if he so decides right? Hopefully as mentioned above, added press makes this financially feasible for him etc. Gutting nonetheless.

buzzing around ZiJing park in Changzhou last night. (see: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Turn_of_Fortune ) It was late enough that there wasn't a soul around, thus I was all too busy staring at the shiny wheel and not really looking where I was going when the nice wide and smooth tarmac path I was enjoying gave way to a tourist information type plaza, complete with ~8 set of steps either side. I looked up in time to realise that I'd fucked up but not in time to stop/slow down enough to reasonably bail, so it was a case of hold on tight and hope everything stays in one piece. Thankfully both my wheels, and my cheap Chinese crabon handlebars held together, and I stuck the landing. Guess I'm just fortunate the stairs were downward, not up.
TLDR: accidental stair sets.
