Cool! I found the standard Babyshoes very tight at first, and they really need working into the well of the rim to give you the slack to get them on. Tubeless tape is worth a go even if you're running tubes - it's much thinner which helps with fitting. But after a bit of use they'll be soft enough to mount without levers :)

This looks cool as fuck, though I wonder if it'd be a bit "jack of all trades"?

Hmm that's interesting. Mine's mounted out the front of a rando rack too. Hadn't noticed the flashing lights till I used panniers instead of the rack bag, which obscured the rear of the light.
Can't see anything about it in the user manual or on the website. Wonder if it's a glitch with the daytime/nighttime sensor?

I think my Luxos USB thingy finally gave up today after 18 months. A couple of hours in cold rain on Saturday, then hung up in the shed this morning may have killed it.
Started rolling out of the lane and the lights were flashing before I'd turned them on. Pressing the handlebar switch killed the lights altogether and they wouldn't come back on so I had to leg it home and take the train :(
Hopefully sending it back to Rose/BUMM for inspection or replacement as it's only about 18 months old and they seem to be fully aware of the water ingress issues.
Before it died though, I noticed the indicator LEDs flashing quite brightly, seemingly at random. I eventually worked out that the LEDs (and presumably the lights themselves) get brighter when a car approaches from the rear - i.e. headlights get close enough.
Am I imagining this, is the light totally fucked, or is this a magical feature that I didn't realise existed?

No worries, hope the thread's been useful :)
Not been on LFGSS recently but I'll be following your build with a keen interest! Have lurked on your other threads. It is up and running after the big crash, but I came off on some ice like an idiot a couple of weeks ago so the new levers are now worse off than the old ones were :/
Pumps look really nice under the stays and it's kinda dead space back there, but I think my frame's small enough that it also would've interfered. I imagine it's easier with a shorter pump or a bigger frame.
The cable tie trick is a really good one! I totally forgot about it but I should put one round the seattube - there's a couple of little plastic tabs on the pump head that locate it really nicely against the three tubes at the front.

Cool! I'll set up a saved search and whatnot. Might make this a higher priority than planned, last couple of rolls through the camera have been very streaky.
These three are from the latest one. Thought it looked like chemical streaks but I used a different lab each time and they're in similar places. Most visible through the left half of the frame on that third photo.

(Not sure how I managed to fuck the focus on this one!?)

Hmm yes, I might need to be very patient, or very lucky - a cursory glance shows 645Super bodies alone at £150-170 :/
@mi7rennie the 166u is the same w/ cocking the shutter, manual wind etc but all that prep does force me to really pay attention to what I'm doing. The shots are still mediocre at best, mind, but I tend not to get any nasty surprises when the film comes back.
-
Thanks for the advice! And no worries on the sale, highly unlikely I'll be buying before next year anyway, which is a shame. Trip to Skye coming up at the end of the month :/
How do you find the 645Super accessories for availability/affordability?
The Fujica looks cool, and nice and easy to use but I think it'd be cool to try something where I can experiment with different lenses, and so on.
@***** Thank you too! I'm not sure I mind about the weight - I definitely can't afford to shoot film every day, and if I did I'd go for ease/convenience/size of 35mm, so the Mamiya (or whatever) will be a "day trip" kind of camera.
-
Thanks! :)
Hmm yeah that's a good point - hadn't thought about that at all. I've mostly shot landscapes on the 6x6 lubitel, so maybe 6x45 would be a little more suited to that, would be fun to experiment with a different format.
@amey A Mamiya you say?

After a bit of advice from those in the know:
I've shot a bit of medium format stuff on a Lubitel 166U over the years. I think I fancy an upgrade - it's leaking a bit, and things are slowly falling off it.
Doesn't have to be a TLR, and something fairly affordable is key (no money for Hasselblad/Rollei) but I'm a bit blinded by the various Mamiya/Pentax/Bronica options.
What's good for around £150? £200 at a stretch. I know I'm likely asking a lot, but have time to stalk ebay forever for a good deal :/

It'd depend on your tyre size, no? I think @spotter used 700c guards around WTB Horizons...
