Was a wicked ride, legs are battered today - definitely feeling the lack of cleats after some of those hills but was somewhat saved by my freewheel allowing me a breather on the way down.
Favourite bit: being wished 'good luck' by the waiter
Least favourite bit: wrapped in my inadequate layers, vainly trying to sleep in the sub zero predawn chill whilst hippies frolicked around me
Good work lads

" FREDom’s last outing culminated in the Police taking possession of our vehicle after arresting all 11 people inside. After much public outrage, the case was dropped, and FREDom returned to his rightful owners. The Police managed to crash our tank into a riot van on the way to the pound. [!!!] So he received a knock to the wing and headlamp and needs some repair to make him road worthy. The riot van was a write off. Poetic ouch."
I don't get it. If the police crashed it whilst they were driving it to the pound would the police insurance not have to cover any repairs?

Hello all,
I need to remove the headsets from my bikes on Thursday evening as I am taking the frames and forks up to Newcastle for a lovely new powder coat. I don't finish work until 17:00 (at the earliest) and so will miss all possible bike shops. I live in South London and I'm catching a train from Kings X at 22:00.
I can't hit up a bike shop any sooner as I do need to cycle to/ from work.
I know this is a bit of a cheeky one, and quite possibly not doable, but can anybody help me? I will happily buy beers for/ cover costs of anyone who can help me take apart my two lovely steeds in the Brixton/ Camberwell area on Thursday evening.
Any hands raised to offer help or fingers pointed to sources of possible help are massively appreciated.

Well, thanks boys. Currently picking the colourway to powder coat my Langster - I reckon I'll be happy enough with it until something else presents itself and a new lick of paint along with my new wheels'll make me feel like I have a spanking new bike.
One thing, my forks are SO straight and, with the 170mm cranks it came with, the toe overlap was awful. I changed these to 165mm and it's loads better but I'm really keen to swap for some carbon with a touch more rake, with the frame geometry as it is, is there any reason why this might not be a good idea?
@edscoble: 1600kg is not really what I'd call light... to put things into perspective, that's 70% heavier than a Ford KA ( [ame]http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ford_Ka[/ame] )
P.S. When the set up is finished I'm almost certainly gonna check that Bike Whisperer dude and get the fix up ... you reckon he is going to tell me to be dominant, not aggressive when I ride my bike?

Just bought a new wheelset: ambrosio evolution TQB clinchers ( http://www.ambrosio.co.uk/ambrosio_wheels.htm ). Set weighs around 2kg and pretty happy with the purchase.
It was mainly because of my pimping new wheels that I was keen to spend some of my tax back pennies on a new frame. Anyway, thanks for the help everyone - any more advice is massively well appreciated.

I take it that the consensus is to not buy any of the above then?
@ Sammy. It's really hard finding a 54/54 frame man! I keep missing advertised items by bare minutes, my bidding is now getting reckless and I keep bagsying things that I don't even want just because I'm getting desperate to win something... anything! I agree with the principle but I want a frame within the next month and as I have already spent 6 weeks looking I don't fancy my chances.
@ DJ. Dude, I'm a novice. What do you mean by 'dial in'? Like get the Langster fit to me and save pennies til something presents itself? I have thought about that but tbh I really want to spank my tax rebate on something fun asap before real life eats it.
@ Lynx: thanks for the heads up man (but in your opinion is the Pompino worth getting then?)
Cheers all

I've thoroughly searched through all the forums, checked every post with frame reviews and recommendations and trawled through people's informed opinions about what's hot and what is quite often not. If this issue has already been tackled elsewhere then I am sorry in advance.
Anyway, I'm riding the 2007 Langster at the moment and it has served me well. During it's service have replaced the BB, the crankset, the brakes, the wheelset, pretty much everything. I'm finally keen to take the final step and replace the only remaining item: the frame.
I really want a lightweight, stiff, preferably steel bike with horizontal drop outs and what I understand to be classic geometry (essentially I don't want another compact frame). My budget is around £250 - not keen to spend much more.
Through recommendations and by checking everything LFGSS has to offer I have reduced my choice to three bikes:
On-One Lincolnshire Poacher (£259.99).
http://www.on-one.co.uk/i/q/FROOLIPO/on-one-lincolnshire-poacher-frame
Don't really dig the decals, quite like the colour, don't mind the lugs (don't particularly love them either). Very much like the shape but at 2.8kg it seems pretty heavy for the price.On-One Pompino (£149.99)
http://www.on-one.co.uk/i/q/FROOP/on-one-pompino-frame
Again, stinking decals and take or leave the colour. The shape isn't exactly what I was looking for but it only weighs 2.27kg and is a bargain price.Genesis Flyer 520 2010
http://www.evanscycles.com/products/genesis/flyer-520-2010-road-bike-frame-set-ec021327?utm_source=froogle&utm_medium=froogle&utm_campaign=froogle
Love this frame. Reynolds tubing, classic look, pretty dope. I gather from the forum ( http://www.lfgss.com/thread1175.html - I told you I researched), that it also weighs 2.27 kg.
Whilst this is more money that the Pompino the price does include forks, but then again I would still probably want to get an unpainted frame if pos and take it to Armourtex or somewhere...So yeah, that's the deal. Which of those frames would your recommend or, for a similar ball park price, what might you recommend instead?
Any help at all will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Caveat: I've skim read posts on the 155 pages of this thread but I haven't read all comments .
I'm feel like I've plateaued (or am in the inexorable process of plateauing) in my running and cycling and I'm looking for motivation (PBs in London that I can reach for) and inspiration (new routes to bash out). Have running kinda in control but I want to link up with some more local cyclists on Strava - is there a place on here where we can buddy up?
My Strava ID is 7510979
(In light of what I have read I realise I sound like a data whore but, well, I like stats.)
NB. I'm a real person in the real world and before I left London for a coupla years I did a bunch of rides from this forum.
Thanks
K
