Higher the ration the harder it is, 52-16 is 87.8 gear inches, so the inverse of spinny. Look at the sheldon brown links and maybe consider a different chainring or cog.

I've just started converting a Premier and other than my initial booboo of not have a stem with a 25.4mm clamp, I'm suddenly terrified that a 1" stem wont fit.

Any way, porteur bars with inverse levers at the ready for when the new stem arrives.
