In fairness to Ed, he's correct, 200 calories extra in last three months are the NICE recommendations [http://www.nice.org.uk/nicemedia/live/13056/49950/49950.pdf]

However, the campaign suggests doing so in co-operation with the Ugandan government, itself a dictatorship with a shocking human rights record - torture prisons, political oppression and that whole 'homosexuals should be put to death' thing.
This is before we get to the fact that the current Ugandan president Yoweri Museveni gained power by using child soldiers in his own army...
There's a few sides to this issue.
Yeah, I don't support the organisation other than the obvious of thinking Kony seems to be a bad person and ending child soldiers a good thing, and that seems a bit is being done about it, before and regardless of anything Invisible Children or its supporters do.

I have emailed that guy, he's a narrow minded student.
So were the people who started the campaign, and with squiffy financing and goals. But credit to them for getting Kony all over the internet today.
But still not entirely sure what the campaign is setting out to do. Already warrants for arrest, Ugandan troops seem to be doing well to remove his presence in Uganda and Obama sending troops to help. And well, not the only place with child soldiers, and international action already taking place.
But still, they've raised the awareness of it, which is something I guess,

I went to Nepalese base camp, which tbh itself isn't anything special as you're too close to see anything. But there was a bakery (its a really odd place), and nearby was some hills that lent themselves excellently to see Everest and Makalu. The hike there is pretty spectacular, took 18 days from the air strip already up a bit to base camp and back, with a sherpa carrying bags (ech, lazy and trickle down economics) but could go faster so long as you factor in potential problems with the altitude and weather (worth the wait for clear skies if you've walked a week getting gradually better views of Everest).
I went in May which I think is good for weather, too much into summer and its wet, really crappy wet. Same issues weatherwise with Annapeurna. Other places I think would be nice to consider would be Valley of Flowers in India and Leh/Laddack is a beautiful part of the world, if again difficult to get to...
As to Tibet side of Everest, you can drive to Base camp, and from there shrug dunno,

unless you've gone american on us.. and then by college you mean university and by school you mean... something else?
Guy above at a college was referring to a university. Colleges range, 6th forms are just schools by another name and maybe a lax dress code, others tend to be much more like university in their lack of caring whether you attend or not.
If its any consolation, I got multiple detentions in school for not having white socks for PE 3 times in a term. I never understood the need for white socks for sport other than the discipline of making sure you have white socks for sport. And last time I heard they would randomly have police bring with drug dogs to wander around classes, which is an unpleasant thought.
Not really, its just a pregnancy test with a bad marketing team.
No, it's a gender prediction test of dubious reliability. I guess I should stop repeating this, but it's depressing to watch this kind of thing propagate.
http://www.predictor.eu/uk/pregnancy/test/preg_test.asp A quick google says that this product is a pregnancy test. And I can't think of what would be different in mother's urine based on the sex of the fetus, so would be suspicious of a test claiming to be able to do so.

Alright: I'm a bit confused about police involvement in these things.
This afternoon I had a collision with a car, riding in a bus lane with stationary traffic to the side, car comes across to enter drive. I didn't have time or space to brake or swerve and next thing I know I'm sliding down the bonnet. Oddly, thinking about this thread kept me a lot calmer than I would have been. Anyway, driver pulls in, he rings the police who don't come because I'd not been injured (a few small scrapes). Anyway, despite the fact my forks are very bent, the driver is calmly irate about the scratches to his paint work "I'm going to have to replace the bonnet". In an adrenaline fuelled moment early on, I said sorry and said had insurance for this kind of thing and that we needed to get off the road. They rang 999, after talking to them for a bit he passed me the phone, the police wanted to know whether I needed an ambulance, I said I didnt and so they weren't going to get involved (my bad). We exchange details and they drive off to a local police station to do something because I said I wasn't going to accept liability. I then wanted to go report this, so tried to find the local police station so rang 101, explained the situation and they said "its for insurance companies to deal with because no one was injured". So... my question is, what am I meant to do with police, to report a crime do you have to go to a police station? Has their supposed reporting done it for enough or do I have to do it also?
