Hi - old thread resurrection, following on from the question above about any 1 inch headset fitting any 1inch fork with the proviso that it's the correct size steerer - can anyone recommend a 1" threaded headset for a late 90s Giant TCR? I've chekced the webz and I'm sure these frames were originally kitted out with 105 or Ultegra - and I have a Shimano 105 but it appears the crown race is loose. Could that be due it being secondhand/ old/ removed too much - or is it the wrong size. Can I just get a new crown race, glue it in place or is or is it just best to get another headset. Any advice welcome, and yes it's definitley a a one inch threaded Giant carbon composite fork

^^ did exactly this last week - then crossover Camden High Street to otherside whilst it's clear of traffic. Thoughts are with rider and family - only taking this route as Parkway is a mare at the moment with roadworks. Saw a rider down there last week, being taken away on a stretcher, hope you're also ok.

In defence of Mirage, I've been using the 10 speed levers for 3 year now (2nd hand bike that had hardly been used) and I had read the stories about the plastic levers, but they've been great and might be the best value as they usually go for around £35 on ebay. Also the shifting is great, so i always suspected that the innards were the same. Any truth in the story that Campagnolo try out the new stuff on their lower range so it goes under the radar then introduce it on the higher spec once they've ironed out any teething issues? Again these were are the first Mirage 10 speed (2006) and have worked like a breeze. Having said that I haven't thrashed the bike, summer use only. Anyway, thumbs up for MIrage 10 speed

Hi all - please have a read if you're in the area, or use it, or just think this is a great idea for London wide. Haringey Council are consulting on a Borough-wide 20 mph speed limit. There could be opposition, so the more the more support the better!

Broken Betty sums it up perfectly, and I did the same thing (FP to Turnpike Lane) - 6 years in the area and the changes are happening daily. A lot of things not right (2 x new "cash converters") in the last year - but "Jam in the Jar" has just opened on green Lanes - so an alternative to the Salisbury
Hi - just realised my new old frame had one of these inserted in the seatpost,
http://www2.giant-bicycles.com/en-pa/partsaccessories/indoorcycling/332/26213/
Anyone know why they are necessary and should it be inserted fully into the frame or should there be a centimeter (approx) showing for the seat clamp to attach to? Finally can anyone confirm what size seatpost clamp I should use with a 27.2 seatpost? It's a a 98 Giant TCR Compact Aluminium frame. So far I've tried 28.6 (too small) 30.6 (fits but stops me inserting seatpost into shim), and 31.8 (fits nicely but won't torq down tight enough to stop seatpost slipping even when seatpost is inserted in shim). All the research indicates it should be 31.8 but mine isn't working - uinless it's just taht its an NOS seatclamp and maybe I need a new one which has a lip to rest on seatpost frame? Any advice appreciated
