The frameset I bought recently came with one of these headsets:

I think it's a 'semi-cartridge' budget headset. Anyone know if it's worth getting a standard cartridge headset or if this is decent?

We have an wall on one side of our garden that has foliage growing to a height of about 10/11 feet (there is a wooden fence on top of the wall to support it growing higher). On the other side is an alleyway and the foliage is growing out into it. Because of the height and the sheer amount of it, it's probably a professional job to cut it back.
Anyone know who is usually responsible for such costs - landlord or tenant? (our contract mentions the tenant tending the garden (which we do) but this is a big job, and it doesn't go into detail on landlord's responsiblity for the exterior parts of the property).

Seemed to be loads of super aggressive driving today. For the first few Ks of weekend ride this morning had several close passes and a massive bus trying to overtake between me and a traffic island when there was a huge long straight bit of road just after.
Then, riding down a narrow country road popular with cyclists in Surrey I see a rider picking himself up off the road with his bike half in the hedge and a black Audi accelerating away from the scene at speed. Rider said he was deliberately driven at. Gave my details and the rider managed to get a photo of the car with reg number.

just bought some time atac xc2 pedals online. when they arrived they didn't look brand new. the bars have some small marks on them. is that normal? wondering if I've been sent a return or shop soiled pair. (they also weren't packaged like new, the pedals were just put in the box loose rather than in the cardboard slots).

Selling my Olmo Giro frame. 59cm seat tube (c-c) 57.5 top tube (C-C) £40
Dedacciai Acciaio Legato CrMo tubing. Really nice ride quality and geometry.
It's not in the best condition. There is some rust and the main area is around the BB (see pics). Might make a hack project for someone.
The seat tube was reamed by the previous owner so it is wider at the top than further down (I used a 27.00 seatpost that would go further down and tightened up the seat collar which worked and held the post in place).
The headset is Stronglight and the BB is Campagnolo. They are included as is the fork.
Edit: System X 27.00 seatpost now included.
Stem, bars and wheels not included.
Tempted to keep it but have too many bikes. Any questions or more info/pics let me know. Collection Wandsworth Town.

Following my bike being stolen looking into replacement commuter/winter bike. Genesis flyer and Day One on my radar.
The Flyer looks to tick all the right boxes.
But wondering if the Day One would make for an interesting change. Any opinions on it? I'm quite new to discs (although have them on a rarely used MTB). Would there be any headaches and faff with track ends, disc brakes and mudguards (e.g. in the event of punctures)? I'd also want to have the option to run it fixed and at a higher gear than it comes with (49x18 or something similar). Any issues with that on a day one, e.g. is it ok running fixed with rear disc?

My Felt Dispatch 58cm frame bike has just been stolen from outside the Imperial College on Prince Consort Road diagonally opposite the Royal Albert Hall. It has an Arione saddle, On One rear wheel, Mavic Aksium front wheel, Miche cranks, Time Atac pedals, full sks mudguards, Easton seatpost, Planet X stem, Bontrager sgr bars. It also has a Crane Sakura bike bell like this one: https://www.velovitality.co.uk/products/crane-japan-sakura-bell
Pic of the frame when I bought it (saddle and seatpost not on bike when stolen). Only photo I have unfortunately:

OK, apologies for thread dredging...
On of the elastic straps on my Mavic MTB shoes is going. Has anyone any experience of replacing these?
The design is basically like this one:

About once a month I get a proper close punishment pass on priory lane by Richmond park, i assume its motivated by me not using the shitty cycle lane on the pavement. Always makes me think of that tiny nob from Brew cafe and his coke riddled rage...
It's particularly annoying as that cycle lane is only fit for those that are pottering to RP. Even for kids its pretty dangerous as one wobble could splat you off the curb into the oncoming traffic. Just bad all round really
I never used to use this for years, but tend to now on the rare occasions I do laps in RP as I'm inclined to spin along at a relaxed speed on my way home from the park so it doesn't bother me too much.
It is bizarre though that at one of the most popular places in London for cycling so much road space is taken up by a cycle lane that hardly anyone uses.

rode into central at rush hour for first time in ages and taken aback by the sheer number of cyclists. Mostly ok, but the chaos of it all with everyone doing their own thing rather than the mature settlement of behaviours you get in places like Holland just makes it seem like we've got a long way to go.

OK, long story but basically, work has been done on the hedge without us requesting it and we have been sent the bill. Where do we stand?
