I've always found SPD's feel less secure and solid than atacs, but it's not a big problem. I suspect that's just how they are and adjusting the tension is unlikely to make a difference. As Time quality control went downhill I've been happy to go back to SPD's. I have 520s on my fixed beater and their great. The Look X Track Race pedals I have on my other bike probably feel slightly better all round but the difference isn't massive.

I just need to do one journey of a couple of hours. Somehow thought there might be EV car sharing schemes around

I'm considering hiring an electric car as there are train strikes around the time I need to make a long journey. Any suggestions for decent EV hire companies?

Odd that this story isn't getting much coverage or commentary.

Feel like I have symptoms that are very close to Covid, which I had 2 months ago anyway. Testing negative, and I guess they are fairly generic cold symptoms (cough, fatigue etc), but really frustrating to be back where I was only a few weeks ago.

Good effort. Thinking of doing this route in reverse soon. Should have a tail wind if the prevailing wind is blowing. That was impressive average speed for that distance into a headwind.

Schwalbe G One speed. UK country lanes with occasional off road sections, e.g. Thames path, Richmond park etc. Rode all year, winter - summer. Not sure on exact mileage, probably more in typical weekend warrior range.

Having just done a ride through some of the rougher single track country lanes in the Surrey Hills rethinking my optimum tyre choice. Was glad of both the knobs/tread and the width (30mm) of the Schwalbe G Ones. Some bits would have been sketchy and not fun on a slicker, narrower tyre.

First experience of road tubeless and has been fine for a year. 30mm at 60psi (was at 70 psi for a while too till I realised that was too harsh). 74kg rider. Just got first, tiny barely noticeable puncture. Probably because I forgot to top up the sealant for a year. Was sceptical, and probably would not have tried it if I'd not had the chance to have it set up for me, but positive results so far

Thoughts are turning to doing some SDW or Surrey Hills now the weather's better but this is the concern. Anyone know if the SDW is rideable atm?

The objection comes from a simplistic, narrow understanding of the concept of freedom. In reality, if you truly want to increase freedom, there's usually a need to reduce the freedom of some to engage in activities that are harmful to others, but that requires a more mature thought process.

Thinking of putting on some slicker tyres on my road bike. Currently running Schwalbe G Ones which, although marketed as fast rolling, I've always suspected are probably a little slower than a smoother tyre. What are the current recommended 28-30mm 700c tubeless ready road tyres at the moment?

The sealant in my tyres has dried out/evaporated. The bike is a Mason they set up the wheels tubeless and I don't know what brand they used (sent an email but no response yet). The inside of the tyres has hard to remove sealant. Apparently you're not supposed to use different brands of sealant together. What's best method of removing the old sealant?

I bought a large pomp initially and ended up changing to an XL so I'd say yes. Am about 186cm and often ride 58cm road frames.

Also getting that feeling. The bike storage in my block is full of bikes bought during COVID, now unridden. Don't blame them. I'm fairly confident, but it's just the presence of so many (often massive) cars that makes riding no fun -the noise, the sense of competition and threat.

At the moment it looks like too much cost/ hassle to even contemplate but I keep thinking it must be possible.

I used to include Battersea park and thames path on a commute. You need to ride pretty chilled as it's shared use, but good if you want to avoid traffic as much as poss.

No worries, quite possible I'm not doing things right. I often make brews in the 3-4 mins range though so I'm thinking any finer and might be over extracted

Thinking about a couple of changes to see if I can improve my coffee. I mainly make filter, pour over, clever dripper (occasionally aeropress) and use a Wilf svart and Britta water filter. Feel I'm not getting all the flavour out of my coffee.

Considering Fellow Ode Gen 2 and for water trying out Third Wave water or alike, or perhaps a different filter e.g.Peak or BWT. Thoughts? Any one own an Ode gen 2?

Thanks, that seems to be my impression now after reading a bit more. I'm also looking at the sennheiser momentum 3 and the jabra elite 7 pro. Basically looking for something with the best quality for music. Prefer a more neutral, clear, transparent sound - not a fan of overly bassy or warm headphones Not too bothered about noise cancelling. Ime getting the right fit is more important.
