Well done to
CCAC Hackney, the weekend's weather looked to be a total nightmare (too much for me, I saw the forecast up North and postponed a trip).Amazing countryside! Absolutely. So many superb locations strung together like that would be enough to make any cyclist weak at the knees.
Returning for the Old 240? What about LEL?
Nicely done again folks, that's some first-rate masochism.

Hi,
Due to a comedic form filling blunder, I've got a ticket for London to Edinburgh if anyone wants it (info in the post title).
I'll mail 'em if you want, no worries at all; though if you were feeling extra-specially generous you could meet me to receive the tickets (I work near Old Street roundabout), in exchange for two bottles of Pepsi MAX. I've a soft spot for fizzy drinks, no word of a lie.
Cheers,

...that Pendle 600...
What gets me is that the route takes riders through so many national parks. It ticks off the North York Moors, the Pennines, the Dales and the Lakes, all of which are first class places to take a bike. So many spectacular places, so much road porn, so many memorable climbs, and so little time.
Try as I might, I can't jettison enough common sense to book this trip. I'm already paid up on something else, otherwise I'd be there with sodding bells on. It's really rather gutting... its also increasingly likely that I'll try to head out on my own at some point before LEL.
Sign yourself up Zanda, it'll knock your socks off.

so how was the Kernow and Southwest 600km?
It was great, a pleasant route in good weather. Two of the seven segments were noticeably trickier (one of which was the last, inevitably), but a lot of the climbing was nibbled away in the general roll around the South West so it's hard to pick out any significant hills.
I very much enjoyed coming to the end of the first day, arriving to a group of broken faces wearily scoffing blackberry crumble and custard or rice pudding. Such an image is standard fare to the seasoned audaxer, I'm sure, but it was novel to me and very memorable.
So many people that I met along the way were talking about the Pendle 600 that it's difficult not to want to try it. The actual event I can't do, but I'm tempted to find a spot for it before the end of the year.

Weekend in The Lakes, to Keswick for an outdoor activities festival.
I managed to tuck in some early early cycling over a few local passes (Whinlatter, Newlands, and Honister); though it was the walking that stole the show. Cat Bells/ High Spy on the Saturday, Longside Edge to Skiddaw on the Sunday... but this isn't the forum for that.

Okeydoke. Unfortunately, my provisional plan for a bash at the Midlands Super Grimpeur route over the upcoming bank holiday has been scuppered (I'd double booked). Terribly soz to anyone who fancied sharing the trip.
Now, I'm still very interested in completing the route prior to LEL, it's just that my cycling slots are plugged for a while to come. So, I'm going to head out on either July 6th or 13th, riding from mid/late Saturday morning before coming to a stop early Sunday morning for the train home.
Company would be more than welcome, and the best of luck to anyone who should manage to get around before I do.

Another bash at a three peaks walk and cycle (It stops this evening, I'm off to Glen Nevis right now). The best bit so far was confronting an ENORMOUS Tesco in the middle of the night.
