They're very much intelligent politicians and good policy makers. But that does not an elected officeholder make regrettably. The Trump and republican playbook which is all facile rhetoric and facile policy making still gets them elected or serious contenders.
FFS, in the majority of advanced democracies a presidential candidate with but one indictment is unfathomable. Let alone 90something. -

I agree though that Biden doesn't seem like the best choice, not so much for his (declining if you believe the Right Wing echo chambers) abilities but the clear polls showing the electorate thinking he is too old.
But who then?
Kamala Harris is deeply unpopular. And again, female and not white, they're not ready for that. -

I am Dutch. And that even in the ostensibly "most liberal"* country in the world, the previous prime minister Rutte had to stay closeted due to apparently the political reality in my home country is insane.
