Anyone tried using linseed oil? It's interesting because it dries into a gummy layer - people have been using it for centuries to protect metals and woods. If you heat up the frame with a hairdryer, then oil with hot oil, it should soak into the pores a bit better (like seasoning (oiling) a cast-iron pan).
Will have to do some testing soon.

Well I paint my own frames :P
Argos charge £125 for F+F, Bob Jackson charge £90, so... around that area I guess. It's certainly a much better job than any powdercoat. If you're based in London or can do cheap postage, it'd be a great alternative to having to pay for expensive couriers to take frames up to Bob Jackson.

I don't see the point of inflating so high. I used to commute daily on Schwalbe Blizzard 23cs at 70psi and never got a pinch flat in 18 months using them. I weigh about 80kg and had at least another 5kg luggage every day. Heavier riders should just use wider tyres - proven to have better rolling resistance and far more comfort.

^ last one is really nice.

Not mine, but a collection of photos taking in the Soviet Union - some really nice ones in here

I've a Campagnolo Record high-flange front hub, but unfortunately the flange has a crack in it running from the outer edge into one of the windows. I'm alright with welding steel, but I've never welded aluminium and I've got no idea if it'd be safe or not - I asked a local engineering works (who have welded up a stem at the bolt hole before and it was fine) who said they'd happily do the work, but they couldn't be certain about the strength of the hub. Presumably it's forged construction - does anyone know if it could be successfully welded and used again?
If not, I'll just make it into a bottle opener or something.

another example of my work, more to come...
I would've put that up in the first place, it looks much better than the other one.
Could you put some close ups up? And how much do you charge?

Hi all. Ordered an S2C wheelset so I'm selling these:
Zenith sealed bearing double-fixed hubs (have enough thread on the reverse side to install a freewheel if you wanted to), Mavic Open Sport rims, silver everything. Comes with a lockring and decent wheelnuts. The only imperfection is in the last picture - a couple of little indentations where I used a steel tyre lever on the front rim - and a few little scratches here and there too, although I haven't done many miles on them. Also I removed the front rim sticker to see what it looked like.

These were fitted to my 1950 Claud Butler that takes a slightly narrower diameter axle than modern wheels - rather than filing the frame, I filed a bit of thread off of the front axle where it slots into the front dropouts. It doesn't affect it mechanically in any way and you won't see it when the wheel is installed, so it's not a problem (and actually saves you some work if your bike is of a similar vintage).
Running pretty straight and true, delivered to your very door for £70 (or £60 pickup from Coventry until Friday, or deepest darkest Essex after that). Usual dibs followed by PM.

^ Actually it's still under debate whether the T Rex had feathers - earlier tyrannosaurs certainly did, but some archaeologists think that the T Rex was so enormous that it probably lost them at some point during its evolution.
We had deinonychuses too, which certainly should've been feathered, but they were annoyingly naked. The only one that had feathers was a tiny turkey-sized remote-controlled one, and that only had a few on its head.

Cheapest one on ebay is £250 used, so I'd say £200 is a very good price.
