Can I add a gentle note of caution re. PH and obvious alcohol consumption... As part of our contract we're obliged to not consume drugs'n'alcohol within the PH vicinity and I noted a security guard was giving us the once over from the upstairs balcony (with the lights off) last week.
Read this as a plug to buy Ste's nifty can containers!

Desperately want to get to this... am keeping tabs on developments/dates/qualification etc.
At the very least, let's make sure MCR is well represented from the outset and has a decent stab at qualification - whether we have to do it amongst ourselves or travel to London!

Checked Gartside yesterday - though Google showed a twin court set up, in reality it's one reasonable (think Alexandra standard/size - although struggling with leaves) court with another that is set up as a tennis court - with a rigid metal net. It has a third open area as a basketball court wihich is poor - but could have been a useful warm up area.
So the search for a big open tourney venue continues...
Hulme could figure as a change of scene come summer - hey, when we get big, we might need more places to play because of congestion!

*Get yer mittens and thermals on... Advanced notice of this winter's coolest polo series... *
**Format: **
- games will ONLY take place when the temperature is 0 degrees or below and can be on any evening of the week (except Powerhouse Thursdays and Saturdays)
- games will always be indoor car parks (usually BBC level 4)
- players notified of times of play/venue via MMS on the day only
- they must assemble with their teams and arrive ready to play a best of three match series against their mystery opponents (they may not know who there opponents will be until arrival)
- more than two teams will be notified on each day to increase the probability of matches taking place. Team confirmations required by 6.30pm latest. Matches usually to start 8.30pm.
- game format 12 mins or first to 6, all 3 matches must be played (goals scored and against recorded for series)
- overall team tourney scores will be posted as we go
- tourney will run from December through February.
Why? Cos although Powerhouse is cool, it's a wee bit pipe and slippers! Time to bring back the random, bring back the dog unit, bring back the frustration and the cold....!

Hulme Park, Jackson Crescent, nr Mancunian Way
Could be a cool spring/summer hangout, maybe even a small tourney venue - no housing in the proximity; euro-urban vibe, good access to the city. Court looks smooth yet grippy (although one can't really tell till we roll a Frankie over it), has walls on two sides plus seating and some rain cover. Lots of street furniture for you trickstas to play with...

yay lewis!
neil, do you know if PH adjusted the timer on the lights?
I spoke to the Gen Manager about it yesterday - he said it would be changed. I asked for an extra 5 minutes to clear up the court - so it should finish at 9.35pm from now on. The new bulbs have arrived too - they need to hire a cherry picker in order to get up there to change them - I'm sure ther'e a joke in this somewhere...
