are the saddle rails the same as diameter/spread as standard saddle rails is of course the next question :P all well and good getting one off, but fitting a replacement is another matter...
yes, same.
can you change the pedals also? straps or clipless would make it a fair bit easier....
you should also put some lighter wheels on and maybe motor :p
no, i was thinking about retrofitting straps but i think that would be proper cheating...

how did you hurt your ankle? hope its all ok
did you manage to try your set of hex things for the saddle bolt on one of the barclays bikes?
and tom K&E hope you and bike is ok for next week too!
long story, but essentially was towing another bike beside the one i was riding, handlebars got snagged and i came down on the ankle with a pretty huge impact. it didn't twist, but i can still feel it all the way up through my pelvis.
i tried the hex key yesterday and it fits! now to decide whether to change the saddles or not...

the porlex is pretty much the best home hand grinder you can get (that's not £150 like a OE pharos)

I think you're delightfully bonkers to be doing this ride on a hire bike, econodog, and I am full of admiration. Please, please don't take it the wrong way, though, if I wonder out loud whether it would carry quite the same heroic status if you put a sensible saddle on the bike. Is that very wrong of me?
it's not wrong of you to think that at all. it just depends on what i value more: my testicles or what you said
Also can the person doing it on a boris bike please attach a computer? I'd love to come back and read things like average speed, top speed etc.
i have an iphone but won't be recording this as it rinses the battery. if some wants to lend me a garmin or something i'd happily do it.
not assuming, knowing for fact
was thinking, that someone was in touch with BCH. what was the outcome?what jaitch said
something like one of these?
YES! i think so — does it say on the side the size?

What kind of screwdriver bit is it? Can you post a picture asap? I'm sure if I can't locate it then someone can...

Looks like Hex security variant a but could possibly be a Security Torx bit
Anyone have something like this? The size is around T40/T45 I think or around 8-10mm diameter hex.

Ha^!
@econodog I wonder if you could attach a decent saddle to the shit one, just gaffer tape or whatever?
if i can find the right screwdriver bit then i can change it potentially. i need to — seriously, it was burning down there after 15 minutes of hard riding

i don't think they are interested in any publicity from these types of events to be honest. especially if they have a policy already on it
i would prefer to keep out all politics and any politicians, except maybe jenny jones — she's doing good things for cycling.
yes it is paul, she sounds lovely.
update on ankle: slight pain today when i move in particular ways but it's not sharp pain which is good. it's not swollen either. i think it might be fine, but am just taking it easy over the next few says
