i am only new on this site so still trying to sort out where to post various things
i have just put a post on current projects about an old mercian with nervex lugs etc that i have just bought off a friend and am going to start a project with ithow can i transfer this this to that other than redoing all the posts there?
the thing about the old saddle is it will go on the bike after i have replaced some of the rivets on it. paint job i did myself, as well as sorting drop out alignment and change from 5 to 10 speed etc etcso can i xfer this to the current projects and also i think my tone to harry was much nicer than his to me , hey but i dont mind it was just a retort if you like

thanks for suggestions,
whole bike has been cleaned and adjusted including cleaning chain, cogs and checked everything for tightness etc, but i think i will take bb out again and check all ball bearings one by one and perhaps change from a nine ball race to free bearings and put more in if you see what i mean -

WHAT DO THE £1 AND £10 items in the posts mean ?
hope it is not what you think the bike is worth !!
most expensive item on refurb was the paint ; 3 cans of metallic ford regency red
whole refurb for under 60 pounds
Michelin speed tyres are 35 years old have been in the dark for at least 25 of those years
will use the current projects one next time

exactly . very crunchy...
well i took it to bits today the crank on the chainwheel side was a bugger, someone has had a go at it before, cross threaded the thread for the crank puller so that took me an hour to clean it up and get the puller to go in straight.
well took of the non chain side all looked ok, took of the chain wheel side of the bottom bracket and a single bearing fell out, and when i got the cup out there was only seven other bearings in the bearing cage .
so it looks like someone has had this off before cross threaded the crank and put it back in minus one bearingwill put it all together later and see if i am back to smooth porridge
as opposed to crunchy nut !! -

hi
one of my bikes ,that i got recently as a freebie, all sorted i thought but gone for first spin up the road for a couple of hundred yards and bottom bracket is crunchy
no noise from free wheel etc when not pedallingdidn't notice in the garage when working on it. what do think? - damaged bearings?
i think it is just a cheap one with some races or even loose bearings will check it out tomorrow maybewikey

companies are bought for their order book and their good marketing name then you move production to china or korea and still have the name and the orders, you keep a small factory in Birmingham so you can still say made in bournville and then you sack most of the workers, you kick the people out of their cheap hosues and you sell the land and houses for a big retail redevelopment and houses loads a money is made , people loose jobs and houses, the country loses a good provider to the economy and the irony is that krafts are borrowing money to buy cadburys and they are borrowing it off the RBS WHICH IS OWNED BY THE BRITISH TAX PAYERS .. we need to be like the french and Germans and protect or own industry

just stripped it down but cant get seat post out, it has a little hole in back of down tube where there is a brazed on lug of some kind ( brake?) and that goes right through so i have sprayed some wd40 in there and will try each day and see if it frees up
