Fresh battery and shooting a test roll is a good idea (and even more so if you're quite methodical about it, as in: shooting a wide variety of (lighting) situations, and noting down on a piece of paper what shutter speed and f-stop was used for each of the frames, so you have a bit of a clearer idea what might be wrong if pics aren't properly exposed), you could use any (cheap) film for this.
Check the light seals of the camera (the foam stuff along the edges of the film door in the back, especially near the hinge - if this feels quite dry / crumbly / sticky there might be problems with light leaks - but you'd also see this when developing your test roll.
Nice camera by the way, have fun! π

I find myself wanting / needing to switch between windows of the Mail app oftentimes (basically switch between the window of the message I'm composing and the main app window) -
with other apps you can switch between windows of the same app via cmd + ` but when I try that in Mail (while in the composing-mail window) it does not switch back to the main app window, but instad indents the line of text where my cursor is at.Anybody can tell me how to solve this (so I can switch back and forth)?
Ta!

I started with boxes as well, then have found these laptop stands to be very good value for money (less than 20 bucks, very sturdy, also they keep the laptop cool which is a nice plus).
Yea it is of course annoying to have a stand plus external keyboard and mouse on your desk instead of just the laptop, but your back / neck will definitely love it, do recommend π
