This is my first post. May I ask this is not restricted to road bikes only is it? I have a MTB that I have recently bought, and I am not very fast so I don't think I can do the distance with a very fast pace.

Maybe I can do about 10 MPH because I have not done more than 3 miles before.

If you haven't done more than 3 miles before this ride might be a bit much, as the route is about 22 miles + whatever distance you have to cycle to get there/home....

Make sure you wheelie as much as possible, then you run the possibility of only having one tyre out of two slipping on the ice. Much safer.

A flask of winter pimms or Irish coffee may be in order for this ride I think....

I have really crap circulation, my hands and feet are pretty much cold all the time.
Just got a pair of the silk glove liners for 5 quid in decathlon and I can report that they make a huge difference, hands aren't exactly toasty warm now, but they aren't frozen and painful like they normally are after a cold ride.

Well i've tried a few route planning sites and this one seems to already be one of the best!
Lovely user interface, uncluttered and clear to use.

I'd echo JC's comment on an iPhone app, it's a huge market they would be losing out on if they didn't have one which would be a real shame, given how nice the site is I would definitely pay for an app that works along with it.

A button to reverse the whole route would be nice and useful for some.

There should be a setting for you to choose your default transport mode on your profile as it currently sets itself to driving whenever you start to draw a map, so it misses some cycle lanes until you switch to cycling manually.

I also didn't receive any sort of 'welcome' email confirmation when I signed up, that would be a good idea.

Letting unregistered people save routes that are then publicly searchable may not be the best idea, as the location search function may then fill up with lots of test routes created by 'anonymous' that might not be so useful.

Some impatient cock decided that she would try and save 3 seconds from her journey by trying to overtake my girlfriend and I then cut sharpley across us into the left turning that was about 4 feet infront of me. She came within about a foot of plowing straight into the side of me, so I calmley stopped infront of her car and told her to be sensible and watch what she is doing.
She then revved up the car and tried to drive it into me while calling me a 'pussyhole' the stupid cunt, I just got out of the way. Called her a twat and rode off with my shaken up girlfriend.
Should have taken down details and reported it but I was raging hard and just wanted to get home!

Glad I was infront of my girlfriend as she is quite new to riding on the road and said that would have probably been enough to stop her riding at all had she been in front :(
